Great for sports. My daughters love a wide variety of sports. This is a great lens for many of them. I sit in the stands and get great close ups. It is the perfect lens for water skiing pics. Very stable even when bouncing in the boat.
I hope to start taking more outdoor scenic pictures this year. Can't wait.

Nothing special but gets the job done. It is sharp between 75-150. But then you see the decline in photo quality afterwards. When you get aroud the 200-300 mark it is just nit that sharp. That being said i reccomend this lens for someone no more than a photo enthusiast.

I find that much past about 200mm sharpness falls off considerably, but for its price its a good compromise. Just dont expect prime sharpness at full zoom

While everyone complains about this lens I found it to be decent when used in the right environment; namely daylight. While it is not an IS lens as long as you keep the shutter speed up you'll be fine. I bought mine as a learner lens to see if I used a long telephoto enough to warrant spending big bucks on a high-quality one.

Very stiff focus ring. Difficult to focus quickly!

This lens is definitely the most versatile lens I own, and may ever own. On my XTi, the 75mm setting is just slightly over 1:1 ratio and the max 300 gets pretty darn close. Unless you want image stabilization (unnecessary at this range) this is the only telephoto zoom lens to get under $1000.
