The refurbished one is indistinguishable from new. The lens takes wide angle to a new level. People whine about lack of filters but circ polarizers won't work that well this wide, and if you need an ND grad just bracket for crissakes. If you need an ND ND just hold a 4x6 in front of it with your hand :)

You just need to buy one,,,,you will not regret it, I bought the 16-35 f4 and returned not even close to the performance.
I will however give the 24-120 f4 tow thumbs up I sold my 24-70 no need with the d700 high iso performance.

I did some research before buying this lens as I was unsure about a refurbished lens. My verdict: Have no fear! If you can find one of these (a lens that consistently ranks as one of the best Nikon has ever made)refurbished, buy it. You won't be disappointed. This lens has been a joy to use, and the picture quality lives up to the reputation. I did get the extended warranty just in case. The way I see it, if I'm gonna spend this much, I just as soon plan for any potential problems. Now that Lee makes a filter set for it, I'm even more excited about having it. You never regret investing in quality glass.

I used this with a D3 and got many of my favorite shots, sometimes hand held with a setting sun throwing light rays through clouds. It's just amazing.
I recently sold my D3 and 24-70mm f/2.8 and "replaced" the D3 with the 10-24mm. It pales in comparison, even stopped down. The Tokina 11-16 is better, and also offers the f/2.8 and build but is still not as good as the 14-24mm and has a narrower range (but I can put an ND grad on it!).
I'm not selling the 14-24mm ... on FX or DX if I want a shot that needs to be great and doesn't need filters (and bracketing can help with that) this lens is amazing.

This lens puts all other wide angle lenses I've used to shame. It's super sharp, edge to edge, even wide open. After using this the 20mm f/2.8, and on DX the Tokina 11-16 or 10-24mm Nikkor just don't seem adequate. Of course, the latter three will accept filters ...

Yes even as a refurbished lens its an expensive purchase. I could have bought one new [...] Mike at Adorama suggested I purchase a Mack 3 year warranty along with the lens for 39.95, so I did. I am 100% satisfied with the [...] purchase and will be comfortable buying another manufactured refurbished product sold by Adorama when the need arrives. I have purchased a Nikon D700, 14-24 2.8 / SB 900 / 24-70 2.8 / two Mack warranty's from Adorama. They're the only company I purchase camera gear from…..Ernie Sapiro - semi pro photographer

For ultra wide shootings, I used to get in my bag a Voigtländer Skopar 20mm, very agreable because his small size and weight. Using this 14-24 Nikon is like entering in another world: you have the feeling there are no limits fot this lens. Even if you knew it by reading several tests, the sharpness you obtain in all circumtances is really really amazing.

Purchase a refurbished Nikon 14-24 2.8 lens for a GREAT price. My first impression" WOW, It appear as new. Not one scratch or dust on it. Autofocus is fast and accurate. Build quality is superb. This lens is sharp from corner to corner on my D3s/700. Highly recommended
