Comments about Nikon Nikon 300mm f/2.8G ED-IF II AF-S VR (Vibration Reduction) Telephoto Auto Focus Nikkor Lens - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

I borrowed one of these from Nikon when covering the Open golf at St Andrews earlier this year. I got pin sharp results (on a D3) even when cropping to about 20% of the image. One of the best lenses I have used.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 300mm f/2.8G ED-IF II AF-S VR (Vibration Reduction) Telephoto Auto Focus Nikkor Lens - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

While the lens performs correctly and looks good from a distance, under closer inspection it clearly shows signs of wear. It is also missing one of the screws that holds the tripod mount in the foot. There was no mention before hand that it would not include a users manual. While they are available for download from Nikon's web site, would it really be too much to ask for Nikon to throw a new manual in the box?

Had I known these issues in advance, plus the fact that it has been serviced and does not carry a new warranty, I would have made a different purchase decision.

The box said "Refurbished by Nikon". These negative comments reflect on Nikon, not on Adorama. I doubt I will spend this much money on a Nikon refurb in the future.

Buyer beware
