Speed ... with digital and the great higher ISO, the f1.8, with its low cost, is just perfect. I have always used the 50mm f1.4 with 100 ISO film ... but now I feel I don't need to spend double the cost of the lens to get that higher shutter speed in low light. I just jack up the ISO. Simple.

Perfect. Glad they finally came out with one - pairs up nice with the 35mm f1.8. I love it.

Since it is so new on the market, I took a chance and pre-ordered. It turns out that it was a good call. This lens renders color and bokeh beautifully with prickly-sharp images. This lens at half the price blows my Nikon 50mm 1.4D out of the water and the 1.4D is a great lens. On my DX D7000 I am able to use a step-down ring for 52mm filter use with no vignetting.

At just over $200, light and compact, it is a no-brainer and it can also be used on all Nikon DSLRs .

I purchased to replace the 50mm D lens since its a bit out dated actually it was a 1.4 and I prefer this new 1.8 VERY sharp I see no need for the 1.4 as I already have the new 35mm f/1.4
