Comments about Nikon Nikon 60mm f/2.8D AF Micro-Nikkor Telephoto Auto Focus Lens - with 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:
On my D40X this is really difficult to focus, especially in low light where the wide apature gives little depth of field and margin of error. (This does not autofocus on the D40, D40X). Much harder to focus than I thought it would be.
Good sharp glass and fine on the copy stand and table top for macro work. Useless as a walking around lens on this camera.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 60mm f/2.8D AF Micro-Nikkor Telephoto Auto Focus Lens - with 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:
It allows very specific lighting of small objects when on copy stand, even very close. On my D80 its autofocus is excellent whether using Spot or center-weighted. I used its predecessor on my F2 Nikon when I wasn't using my 85mm fixed focus (a great lens) even for pursuing friends children as well as for archaeological photography. The only other one I needed was a 35mm for church façades in narrow streets.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 60mm f/2.8D AF Micro-Nikkor Telephoto Auto Focus Lens - with 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:
I love the 60mm 2.8 Nikon micro lens. I never knew bugs were so interesting. Everyone is amazed by my photos. The only thing I don't like is that I have to be right on top of the subject and so am considering purchasing the 200mm micro lense. But I am so glad that I got this one first. I really gained my love for macro photography through the use of this awesome lens.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 60mm f/2.8D AF Micro-Nikkor Telephoto Auto Focus Lens - with 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:
Very very sharp lens, with excellent color and low light-falloff. Does not autofocus on the latest low-end digital (D40, D60, etc.), but that's a small price to pay for an otherwise perfect lens.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 60mm f/2.8D AF Micro-Nikkor Telephoto Auto Focus Lens - with 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:
One of the best lenses I have in my bag. The copy that I have is very sharp. I can say that, for all eight Nikon lenses I own...this one is the sharpest. It can focus down to a 1:1 life size reproduction ratio. I use it a lot for coin collections and small objects.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 60mm f/2.8D AF Micro-Nikkor Telephoto Auto Focus Lens - with 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:
Terrific lens. Very sharp. I use it a lot for my macro work and I find it to be tack sharp. It can be combined with the Tamron 2x converter to give the equivalent of a 120mm lens (180 after crop factor) for really terrific close ups.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 60mm f/2.8D AF Micro-Nikkor Telephoto Auto Focus Lens - with 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:
This is a well constructed lens, I use it with my D80. It focuses fast and accurately and its minimum focus distance is almost at the front of the lens. It's very good for macro photography, but you'll scare bugs if you want to take a picture since you have to get so close! It's perfect for flowers and portraits.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 60mm f/2.8D AF Micro-Nikkor Telephoto Auto Focus Lens - with 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:
Photographing insects or small animals you would probably be better off with a 105 or longer macro. Excellent lens for flowers or other things that don't move. This lens is built to last. The quality says "Nikon Quality" Used with small image sensors, the depth of field is not quite the same as with a full frame film camera. This lens will produce really sharp images.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 60mm f/2.8D AF Micro-Nikkor Telephoto Auto Focus Lens - with 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:
I love the lens. In this short time I have own the lens, it hasn't been a day that I don't use it and enjoying it.
I love how close you get to the subject and that 20 cm is very short 20 cm.
First I was confused by the variable aperture in the focus distance but it is very important though.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 60mm f/2.8D AF Micro-Nikkor Telephoto Auto Focus Lens - with 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:
Optical performances are not far from equivalent sigma or tamron, but the construction is solid - it is built to last! I use also for fashion. However if you make studio photos or still life, the old Micro Nikkor 55f3,5 is better with smaller diaphragms.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 60mm f/2.8D AF Micro-Nikkor Telephoto Auto Focus Lens - with 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:
Having used an F3 with the classic manual focus 55mm Micro-Nikkor lens for almost 20 years, moving to an F90S with the 60mm AF Micro-Nikkor lens was a smooth transition. I am a biologist who studies spiders, and so I take many images of these organisms in the wild, making a Micro-Nikkor lens a must-have item. In this regard, I continue to get superb images and having AF capability is a welcome advance compared to the 55mm Micro-Nikkor. As with the older lens, the 60mm Micro-Nikkor is plenty rugged and has served me well in habitats ranging from beaches to deep forest.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 60mm f/2.8D AF Micro-Nikkor Telephoto Auto Focus Lens - with 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:
I use mine for close general work and macro imagery. Very sharp and max f2.8 allows easy manual focus although the auto-focus works great as well. Not just a digital lens so can also be used on manual film cameras. My only nit is the depth of field markings are minimal, only f16 and f32 are given. One a pro level lens like this it seems a bit lame.
Not for the faint of heart

Comments about Nikon Nikon 60mm f/2.8D AF Micro-Nikkor Telephoto Auto Focus Lens - with 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:
Originally purchased for close-up ability, but found it to be a perfect portrait lense, much better low-light lense than a zoom.
