Comments about Nikon Nikon 60mm f/2.8G AF-S Micro - Nikkor Auto Focus Lens with Extra-low Dispersion Glass, 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:
This lens was recommended for delicate, close-up work and it is great. I have begun to get the feel of the additional weight in my hand.
I haven't been able to get outside yet because of the snow to take some close-up shots and can't wait. I am learning as I go so I will update as
to the ease of this lens. I bought this as a gift for myself.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 60mm f/2.8G AF-S Micro - Nikkor Auto Focus Lens with Extra-low Dispersion Glass, 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:
This is a super lens. Sharp and quick focusing, for a macro. Nice portrait lens also. I have the 105mm and was unsure whether or not I would get much use out of the 60mm but I find that I'm using it more than I thought. I look at the 60mm as my "indoor" macro lens and the 105mm as my "outdoor macro.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 60mm f/2.8G AF-S Micro - Nikkor Auto Focus Lens with Extra-low Dispersion Glass, 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:
As an underwater Photographer the 60 MM is very fast focus in lower light and is great for the macro shots of small creatures. I really enjoy the way it operates inside an underwater housing. I cannot believe how sharp and clear the whole frame is... Finally I can quit worring about reflections, and concentrate on the shot.. Thanks Adorama

Comments about Nikon Nikon 60mm f/2.8G AF-S Micro - Nikkor Auto Focus Lens with Extra-low Dispersion Glass, 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:
First of all, this is a fine macro lens. If you think this is much sharper than the previous model, think again. I also own the older lens, and it is very, very sharp. This G lens may be sharper, but if it is, not by much. This is a very fine macro lens. The major difference in this model, is the speed of the focus and how quiet it is.
Unlike the old lens, the front lens element is close to the front. You should get a good quality filter for the the lens. Nikon wants about 50 for a clear glass filter. Buy a B+W filter and get what you pay for.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 60mm f/2.8G AF-S Micro - Nikkor Auto Focus Lens with Extra-low Dispersion Glass, 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:
The first day I got this lens, I tried a few shots and was overjoyed by the clarity. The most amazing shots were of a dollar bill. I was able to get within a couple inches of the bill, and the fine detail astounded me. The images revealed details that I had never imagined in the printing.
One warning: as you get closer to the object, the depth of field narrows. When taking photos of the dollar bill, the depth of field was probably about 1 millimeter, which meant that a simple fold in the bill threw parts of the image out of focus. Bearing that in mind, you can still get amazing shots.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 60mm f/2.8G AF-S Micro - Nikkor Auto Focus Lens with Extra-low Dispersion Glass, 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:
This lens was bought to replace a Nikkor 105 mm lens that I bought 20 years ago and later sold. Now that i am into digital photography i need a similiar lens. This lens is lightweight, slightly "fat" (lens cap size is 62), and provides no means to change aperature adjustment except inside the camera controls. I prefer the manual focus for close-ups because it works well, is faster, and doesn't change as your camera may change its point of view. For full macro you need to get very close to the subject. Please checkout this photo with just a bit of cropping. This was shot on a tripod at F5.6, SB-6oo flash set to Manuel (and reduced in power) and a shutter speed of 1/60.

The manual for this lens says the min focusing distance from subject is 8", but I got within an inch or two from the subject to take this picture. I'm really impressed with the images I getting with this lens, hand-held, on a tri-pod, up-close & far away. It's my new favorite lens. Btw, camera is a D300.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 60mm f/2.8G AF-S Micro - Nikkor Auto Focus Lens with Extra-low Dispersion Glass, 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:
This Nikon micro 60mm f/2.8 ED AF-S is the heir to the 60mm Nikon throne. Sharp as a tack and fast focus, this lens really only lacks VR -or does it? Since this is a lens typically used with a tripod, there's no real reason to have VR. At 60mm, this lens is a nice portrait lens, though perhaps the sharpness results in a bit too much "honesty" for some portraits. For close-up nature shots, this lens delivers all a 60mm user could expect and then some. I like that the lens barrel doesn't extend as it eliminates the need for a fine adjustment plate -set this lens where you want it and go for focus with no "tripod two-step". Aperture is constant f/2.8, but more amazing is how much depth is available at the other end of aperture. Then the only problem is providing enough light at f/22 etc. I won't say this lens would make you happier than the 100mm, but it delivers great results at a lot less money. Fine first macro and likely to be around a long time.

Comments about Nikon Nikon 60mm f/2.8G AF-S Micro - Nikkor Auto Focus Lens with Extra-low Dispersion Glass, 5 Year U.S.A. Warranty:
Nikon's 1st AF-S prime lense with a focal length less than 100 is worth every cent. Amazing, sharp quality and not much quality is loss when used in low light conditions because of the extra-low despersion glass. It's a shame Nikkor hasnt made a more convenient AF-S prime lense for those who shoot closer to their subjects (ie 35mm or even 50mm).
But none-the-less this lense is AMAZING. If I had the chance, i'd buy this lense again and again.
