I have never regretted buying this lens. The fact that it was a refurbished lens never worried me. I have purchased several items from Nikon that were "refurbs" and all have been just great.

I use the lens for casual nature and street scene shots. The focus is fast, as compared to sigma and even the 18-55 Nikon. The pictures are breathtaking in the nature shots, especially at the 2.8 setting for aperture. However, I must admit, as others have, that the weight can become an issue. I was shooting in the Virginia mountains over a six hour period and was arm weary at the end of the excursion.

My main use for this lens is wildlife. It is great for low light and has the fastest auto focus I have seen. I am not to happy about the cheap lens hood that came with it.
