After I CLOSE ONE OR TWO STOPS, STARS APPEAR PINPOINT FROM ONE SIDE TO THE OTHER.

This fisheye lens produces beautiful colors and contrast in images. It's manual focus and manual aperture, but the DOF is broad enough that focus is usually not an issue. This lens is a great value and I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking at a fisheye.

Comments about Pro Optic Pro-Optic 8mm f/3.5 Manual Focus, Fish Eye Lens with Canon EOS Mount:
I purchased this lens after having researched it thoroughly and was aware that it is full-manual. It seems to be unable to take low-light shots. The lens takes beautiful daylight shots, however. My primary issue there is the chromatic aberration that is evident during any cropping. I can't seem to get rid of it. The only other issue is that my manual focus ring doesn't seem to work. I'm not sure if it's defective or whether that's just a function of this lens. Despite the indicated shortcomings, this is a great lens, and you can't beat it for the money. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

I took a couple pix of one of Texas' County Court Houses. The lens is remarkably sharp. While you don't get auto focus, you really don't need it.
Auto exposure was right on using my canon 7D and Av setting. No need to use manual exposure except is special situations. This is a fun lens. Can't beat it for the price and quality
Comments about Pro Optic Pro-Optic 8mm f/3.5 Manual Focus, Fish Eye Lens with Canon EOS Mount:
This is a fun lens. Manual focus is no problem on my Canon 7D. And while there is no data on f stops, it exposes perfectly in Av mode. It is interesting to see the difference in output with this fish eye and a really wide angle. Whats not to like ?
Comments about Pro Optic Pro-Optic 8mm f/3.5 Manual Focus, Fish Eye Lens with Canon EOS Mount:
I bought this lens for shooting HD video and taking shots in low light. Unfortunately, this lens is not fast enough for high speed action shots and low light photos. The biggest complaint is my camera body (Rebel T2i) did not recognize the lens because the lens did not have sync keys on its mount. This meant that my aperture stayed at "00" and i couldnt shoot any faster than 1/60 shutter speed. On the plus side, the price of this lens is UNBEATABLE and if you like to take your time with shots and enjoy the fisheye effect, this lens will do the job very well. When i shot video, the picture seemed to brighten up a bit too. If you have an older SLR, BUY THIS LENS. If you are on a budget or just want a fisheye for fun shooting, BUY THIS LENS. Otherwise, you'll have to shell out 2-3x the amount of money for another lens.

I'm not the most accomplished photographer so this is a bit of a learning curve. If you're not used to manually adjusting your lens it will take a little practice, but if you're looking at one of these, you're further along than just a newbie photographer. It just takes some practice like anything else.
For the canon, I'm finding it works best set in AV mode. It sets the exposure properly for regular day to day cool shots.
I plan to use mine mostly for astrophotography, so I'm used to manually setting up my camera as noted above.
For the amount of money I saved, I'm very happy. A more advanced photographer who may want all of the techie features that may come with a more expensive lens may not be happy, though I'm not sure why. Probably not good enough for you if you are a purist.
For a commoner like myself, I'm happy. Maybe I don't know better.
Comments about Pro Optic Pro-Optic 8mm f/3.5 Manual Focus, Fish Eye Lens with Canon EOS Mount:
I use it for wide panorama shots (if you shoot with the line of interest centered, distortion is quite low),distortion that adds impact or accentuates elements and plain fun shots.
I like that it's compact, light, easy to use and gives very good results. Great to use on a Canon DSLR using live-view.
I honestly have no negative issues with this lens.

[...] First impression:Mechanically, it feels good, solid construction and nice feel of the focus barrel. It fits the 550D and you can mount on the 1D4.I made the mistake to order the EOS version, considering it will be used on Canon bodies. BIG mistake!I intended to buy the Nikon version and use it with an adapter that has the focus confirm chip. Stay away from the Canon version. No communications with the camera, aperture and exposure settings are a guess, and NO focus confirm! This is bare bones: what you pay is what you get. I will sell the lens ASAP, buy the Nikon vDSLR version + the proper adapter.

For the money, this was an awesome deal. I just wish I could use it on my full-frame Canon 5D. With the 180-degree view you need to watch out that you don't accidentally include your legs or your tripod in the photo.
I was going to add a demo photo until I read the TOS that hands over copyrights to my photo. I would only ever do that for a boat-load of money, and since I am not being paid, I refuse to hand over copyrights. So, no photo, sorry.

For the price you can't get anything better. I've been using this lens for a few months now and I love it. It took a little while to get use to it, but once I got a feeling for it the Manual Everything doesn't bother me anymore. This was my first Fisheye lens, and I'm very happy with it. Three are many better fish eye lenses out there, but for a first try at fisheye, this is a great choice. If nothing else it will help you learn different techniques.

Great lens, however fisheye lenses are not easy to use. Good fun for experimenting.

Maybe old school (manual focus and aperture) but strong construction and good images well worth the money.

I bought this lens with the hope of using it to shoot some ultra-wide video, but found the sharpness lacking and the distortion a bit beyond what I could tolerate. I returned it.

Comments about Pro Optic Pro-Optic 8mm f/3.5 Manual Focus, Fish Eye Lens with Canon EOS Mount:
This lens is fascinating. I bought it to get photos inside some small classrooms in Europe, which is still ahead, but of course I've been practicing with it in the meantime.
For a cheap lens this thing is pretty well built, and very sharp. There is some chromatic aberration, but not in objectionable amounts, and not present at all in situations that don't have a great deal of edge contrast (as with many lenses, sharp tree branches against a bright, overcast sky are a way to bring out the worst).
It is a full frame-fisheye. That is, it really does cover the full 180 degrees (so watch your feet when you are composing) and it fills the frame.
How did they make it so cheap? Well, they put the money into the glass, and none into the electronics. The lens has no electronics at all and the aperture in the viewfinder remains at 00. It is fully manually focus, obviously.
While this sounds like a horrible disadvantage in this day and age, set the focus to 2 feet and the aperture to f8 and everything from about 12" to infinity is in sharp focus. This is set and forget focus. Don't even whisper the word "bokeh" around this lens, 'cuz it ain't gonna happen.
The downside is that the lens only focuses down to about 11". This sounds pretty close, but to get those "nose against the glass" shots that made the fisheye famous you'll have to look at a different lens.
Remember, too, this is not a wide-angle lens, this is a fisheye, and barrel distortion is what it's all about. You'll have to keep that in mind when composing your shots. It takes some practice, and you have to like the look.
Also, there is no way to attach filters, unless you rig something yourself.
I put "Mechanical Aperture" and "Mechanical Focus" as cons, but it is really a learning issue, and not a defect. Both settings are easy to move accidentally and need to be checked before each shot. As mentioned, the aperture in the viewfinder remains at "00" (at least for the Canon mount).
Still, I think that I am going to be using this lens for a long time.

Can NOT beat this lens when it comes to being wide. I use it with my Canon EOS 7D and the picture quality is unbeatable. I love everything about this lens. And for about $300 you will not find anything better!
