Comments about Ricoh Ricoh GR LENS A12 28mm F2.5 Camera Unit, 12 Megapixel:

I am smitten with this lens. It focuses faster than the Ricoh 50mm and consistently delivers gorgeous results. I should add that I opted for the Ricoh GXR system after reading a gazillion reviews of other, similar systems. The cost of the Ricoh system certainly is a problem, but the excellence of the results I am obtaining balances that out sufficiently.

Comments about Ricoh Ricoh GR LENS A12 28mm F2.5 Camera Unit, 12 Megapixel:

This is a correction to the review I made recently in which I griped about the Snap Focus feature. Yesterday I accidently discovered that the Function 2 part of the directional pad on the back of the camera body is pre-programmed for Snap Focus. And, I remembered pressing it a few times by mistake (once with gloves on) and, thus inadvertently activating Snap Focus. I plan to assign another function to this part of the pad. So, if there's something to be learned here it's: get to know the controls well and be careful in using them.

Comments about Ricoh Ricoh GR LENS A12 28mm F2.5 Camera Unit, 12 Megapixel:

A welcome addition to the GXR CMOS APS-C family. This camera unit produces images that seem to be the equal of my Nikkor AF 20mm f/2.8 (both lenses produce roughly the same image size on a DX-type camera). The sample image was taken on the first day I had the lens. Lighting was cloudy. Camera was hand held. ISO 200, f/5, 1/110. My only complaint is related, I think, to the camera body's control of focus, which also occurs w/the 50mm APS-C unit: Even when I have the focus set for AF or MF it occasionally "pops" into Snap Focus (preset focus points), which can cause the focus to be off. I'm not deducting stars from this unit because I think this problem is caused by the camera body. Hopefully, this can be corrected in a future firmware update. Right now, the body and lens units are operating with the latest updates.
