Comments about Sigma Sigma 18mm - 125mm f/3.8-5.6 DC OS (Optical Stabilizer) Autofocus Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Digital SLR Cameras:
This lens is much better than the canon consumer lenses in my opinion. It may have a slight front focusing issue and if it does I'll send it back to sigma for an adjustment or use it as an excuse to upgrade to the 50D with micro adjustment instead of sending it back to the retailer so everyone else can take the time and expense of correcting a common problem with most lenses.
Comments about Sigma Sigma 18mm - 125mm f/3.8-5.6 DC OS (Optical Stabilizer) Autofocus Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Digital SLR Cameras:
In my opinion, this is a pretty good compromise between the short zoom like the 18-55 and the long superzooms like the 18-250. Image quality is very good from 18-90mm, with great sharpness and color. Past 90mm it takes a pretty good hit on sharpness and you will want to stop down to f8-10 for best results. Focus is pretty good - faster than the kit zooms, but not like Canon ring USM. Construction is excellent.
All-in-all a good lens for everyday walkaround and travel. 125mm is longer than it sounds and should be more than enough reach for everything but wildlife and sports.

I returned this product because of unacceptable focus precision.
