This is my first experience with wide angle photography so I'm learning. Quite fast at the shorter ranges for the price and the vibration suppression is great.
The lens seems remarkably sturdy, much more so than the budget Nikon lenses I've had experience with.
Tends to overexpose on my D80.
My only complaint is that the zoom is stiff although hardly unusable. I suppose it may loosen up with use. There is, however, no creep!

If your looking to upgrade from your kit lens, this lens is for you! Great wide angle shots, decent zoom, great even at low light! A must buy for the money!

I use this lens on a D90 and a D200 and find it better than the kit lens that I have. This Sigma lens is probably the best one that I have and I have several other Sigma lens all of which are more expensive than this one.

I bought this lens when the price was too hard to resist and have not been disappointed. Unlike the Canon kit lens, this lens is fixed length and doesn't extend when zoomed (this should help with dust). I also like the f/2.8 compared to f/3.5 for lower light and the fast quiet focus. It's not perfect, but I think it's a better alternative to the Canon.
