Comments about Sigma Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG Macro HSM II Auto Focus Telephoto Zoom Lens for the Maxxum & Sony Alpha Mount.:

I purchased this lens to shoot wildlife and as previous reviews stated the focus at longer lengths is a just little slow, but the price is lighter on the wallet. The overall weight is heavy, but expected. I like what I get throughout the entire range and would purchase another Sigma - may the 18 -200mm?

Comments about Sigma Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG Macro HSM II Auto Focus Telephoto Zoom Lens for the Maxxum & Sony Alpha Mount.:

The lens I recieved would be more out of focuse the more you zoomed. Tried many different f-stops focal lenghts. The lens clearly had a problem mainting good focus the more you zoomed. Even when refocusing after zooming.

I've had a need for a 2.8 lens for a long time, but I was determined to find a "deal" on this lens. Unfortunately, this lens costs [$] no matter where you get it. I understand now why this lens isn't discounted. It's fast, quiet, smooth, the clarity of the images is outstanding and it's half the price of a Nikon, Canon, Sony, etc. 70-200mm 2.8. I highly recommend this lens.

Comments about Sigma Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG Macro HSM II Auto Focus Telephoto Zoom Lens for the Maxxum & Sony Alpha Mount.:

I bought this lens to use for pictures of my daughter's basketball games. It works great for low-light indoor sports. The two biggest drawbacks are weight - you almost have to use a tripod or monopod - and the speed of the auto-focus at long focal lengths - not as quick as I would like when taking basketball game shots - overall, a very useful lens
