Comments about Sigma Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro Tele Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Cameras:

for the money the lens is very worth it. Im not a professional photographer so i just needed a lens with a decent amount of zoom and bingo just what the doctor called for, this lens is getting me some pretty decent pictures so far but I have only had it a month. So i havent really uncovered its potential. Its true the auto-focus hunts in low light but seems to me that a lot of lenses would with this focal range. All in All this is a great lens

Good contruction. Doesn't feel like plastic, more like a super fine sandpaper. focus motor is loud and optical quality is on par with what you pay. No image stabilizer. Comes with a large lens hood, a great case, and warranty info. Thread size is 58mm so it's a great addition to those with 18-55 and are looking for a little more reach.

Comments about Sigma Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro Tele Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Cameras:

Got this as a replacement for one that my wife dropped when we were on assignment. It works fine for what was expected. However it is not as sharp as I would like. It is low end and we primarily use it with our secondary camera when we are in places where we do not want to risk damage to our other equipment.

I bought this lens with my 40D because I wasn't ready to spend $400+ extra to get a better zoom lens. I would recomend it over the similar Canon lenses in this price range.

Comments about Sigma Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro Tele Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Cameras:

Bought this to accompany my Canon 30d and the nifty fifty-Its a nice lens that allows a wide range of photography, being zoom, the lens is fairly narrow, but its good for portraits and wildlife. the macro function is very good too.
If I was willing to spend $$$$ yes I could have got a sharper lens, but for a beginner not wanting to spend alot, I think the lens is perfect.

Since I bought this lens I've only got to use it once, up in the press box seats at the flyers game and the shots it took was amazing. Its great for action shot but if you using the auto focus sometimes it has a mind of its own and it made me miss out on a couple would be awesome shots but all in all its definatly a great buy

I was on a cruise recently and every time we sailed into a port I was on the deck taking pictures of the landscape. The pictures were brought right up close and with a very clear focus. It was simply amazing. What a lens for the money and I would recommend it to anyone. It might not be used for everyday use but when you need it this lens does it all. Thanks again [...]

Comments about Sigma Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro Tele Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Cameras:

This is the best telephoto lens for those who are on a budget, it is as sharp or sharper than the canon 75-300 and canon 70-300 IS. The AF motor may be a little noisy, but when outdoors its not really a big deal at all

Comments about Sigma Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro Tele Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Cameras:

I have used this lens on everything from macro photography with good results (and without spending big dollars on a dedicated macro, which of course would give superior images but for the infrequent time i do macro this turned out well) to landscapes, wildlife, and air shows. I have used this for portrait photography and have found the clarity to be quite good. A relative has the equivalent Canon product, which i am normally very fond of but found this lens to focus in half the time. I can travel easily with this lens as it is not terribly bulky and is fairly lightweight. Sure there are better lenses out there but i have yet to find one that gives me the results this lens does in this price range. For the money this is an excellent choice if you need a telephoto lens and don't want to pay several hundred, or even several thousand dollars for a zoom lens.

Comments about Sigma Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro Tele Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Cameras:

Surprisingly sharp at 70mm and very good through 200mm. Decent bokeh. Gets soft past 200mm.

My only real complaint is the AF is slow, which makes action shots difficult. This lens has done best for me with still subjects.

It´s a very good lens for beginners... It works very much better with manual focus than AF, but for a new starter like me it is a good lens for a really good price.

Comments about Sigma Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro Tele Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Cameras:

Wonderful in the bright sunny days of California, light weight, and sharp. Gets a very cool cast in shade that is easy to remove in PP. Mine is very sharp, and with the macro feature, it focuses very closely.
