This is the lens that should come standard when you buy a Alpha Camera/lens bundle. This lens puts to shame any of the Sony "kit" lenses as far as clarity, detail, sharpness, and fast auto focus. This is a real piece of glass, a lens that you will keep on your camera most of the time. It is a must have for your lens bag if you are serious about photography, regardless of the price tag...it's well worth it.

I have used sony 18-200, sigma 28-300, sigma 18-200. They are not sharp. Zeiss 16-80 is very quick and the picture is very sharp, the coler and contrast is bright. I like it.

Using this lens is like I've removed a fog filter from my camera. Pictures are much sharper and vignetting is gone. The wide angle makes indoor photography, group shots, architecture, landscape pictures a piece of cake and you still have up to a 120mm equiv. zoom.
The only reason for the 4/5 is that the casing could be sturdier, but if you are not a paparazi or clumsy this should not matter.
