The lense is light. Is generally just ok. It is not all that sharp and at wide angles, 18mm there is a fair bit of vignetting....
For the money you can get a better lense, I really think that they would have been better off limiting the range to 35-250...I am not too impressed

I bought this as an all purpose walk around lens, but felt like I also needed a macro. Just for kicks, I tried some close-ups today and was surprised. I had the lens cranked out to 250mm and hand held the shots. I was able to get only 12 inches from the subject, with great results. This lens is great for general use including portraits, landscapes and...even some macro stuff. Great color, and accurate, fast focusing when used on my A700.
