Comments about Sony Sony 28mm f/2.8 a (alpha) Mount Digital SLR Wide Angle Lens with Built-in Sliding Hood:
Lens is clearly at it's best in the f5.6 range. Parties, picnics,scene investigations, etc. are all great uses. Used on Alpha 900 and although a good standard lens, it is understandably disappointing compared to the Zeiss glass. I am not faulting this compared to a lens that is 5 times the price, just be aware that images are notably soft on both open and closed ends. This is a great utility lens, but not able to deliver quality the 850 and 900 are capable of.

Comments about Sony Sony 28mm f/2.8 a (alpha) Mount Digital SLR Wide Angle Lens with Built-in Sliding Hood:
Used on a Sony Alpha 200 & 350, as main lens. Gives field of view similar to what the eye sees. When used on an Alpha mount camera, the 35mm (full-frame)equivalent is 42mm.
Images are sharp, including edges, at all apertures (f22 not used or tested). Ideal lens for landscapes. Also good for any general purpose, and performs well at f2.8. This gives you good versatility - a general purpose lens.
An accessory hood is needed to prevent lens flare. Prone to flare, particularly when a filter is used. Also, filters should be multi-coated.
