I love the clarity and sharpness of the photos.
The negatives of this lens are it's heavy and slow to focus. Best used on a tripod.

Very good lens I use with my Sony A700. Tack sharp and very quick to focus. Wish it went down to 50mm instead of 70mm, then i would not take it off my camera.

Purchased to replace very good 100-300. Needed more at both lower and higher end. NOT DISAPPOINTED! SSM is silent to the extreme and fast. Tack Sharp. Read several reviews and all were accurate. Eventhough heavy it can be easily hand held but would recommend a tripod. No lens creep; easy to manuel focus; have used with 1,4 extender and results are great. Cannot say weight is negitive as expected a great quality lens to be heavy in this focal range. Tack sharp through f ranges. The attached photo was handheld Camera A700;ISO250;FL400mm(600 35mm);f8.0;1/800sec.
Extremely pleased with this lens!!
