This is one of Tamron's best lenses, more than adequate for pro portrait shots. I use it myself and my daughter, who does pro family work, uses one. It is a bargain at the price and rival's any other manufacturer's fast portrait zooms.

I bought this lens for portraits; I had to choose between this and one petax lens with less zoom and for more money. I am not disappointed. It has performed well so far. It is sharp and I love the versatility. It is quite heavy, but does a good job.
