Tamron has once again created an excellent lens in the 70-200 2.8 range, something they did not have for quite some time. The image quality is superb with this lens and in many ways equal to the 70-200 L lenses that I have owned in the past. Where this lens fails is the focusing speed which is woefully inadequate for a 70-200 2.8. In this range you do need a lens that will focus fast in low light and not just good light. It is now time for Tamron to develop some type of ultrasonic motor, not just for faster focusing, but for quieter focusing as well. This is my only nitpick with this lens and my cons are only valid in limited situations, because most of my work is in the studio or pretty good light. All in all the build and image quality of this lens does make it a great value.

Este lente supera todo lo previsto...Le abjudico 4 estrellas pero le corresponden 41/2..Su sistema de Enfoque Manual no es tan sencillo como el los lentes L de Canon pero tabaja perfecto ! Su velocidad en AF no es brillante pero suficiente...Luego su "Sharp", calidez del color y contraste, inmejorables. Su peso es similar a sus "congeneres" y hay que soportarlo. Puede usar un Monopod para superarlo. Los ejemplos que adjunto fueron tomados con una Canon 40D, a mano, con ISO 800, F5.6 Y TV 800. Se tomo en Raw convertidas a JPEG sin ningun "toque" en Photoshop. Mejor Imposible !!

I purchased this lens in November to take boys basketball pictures. The focusing is awful if you are trying to focus fast. It keeps trying to focus on the background rather than the player in the middle. Over and over, by the time I get it to focus where I want it, the shot is over. Don't waste your money if you plan to take fast action shots. If I could get rid of it, I would buy the Canon version.

I look around for a good lens and good prices this one was the one and it was a great buy,,i love it i used it for sports alot.

Very good for portraits, beautiful background. Rapid enough focus, very sharp even at a large diaphragm.

Nice zoom range. Glad I bought this one and didn't pay twice as much for the IS on the Canon version. I enjoy this lens for portraits because it gives the blurry background and brings the subject into perfect focus.
