Comments about Tamron Tamron SP AF70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC Ultra Silent Drive (USD) Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Mount:

I bought this to use in Costa Rica and then took it a couple months later to Yellowstone. I wanted a good, small 300 mm telephoto with vibration control. In good light, and with slow or stationary subjects it works very well. I struggled with it in the forest understory, the autofocus didn't work at all, most of the time. Recently, I took it to an air show, and resorted to the manual focus photographing flying planes. The focus motor is pretty slow. The VC works well, and, considering the price its a good lens. I would buy it again, now that I have gotten used to it, I think it was a pretty good deal. Can't compare it to other similar lenses, since this is the only one I have used. IQ is good, doesn't knock my socks off. Before I had 10 shots in it, I dropped it from about table height to a marble floor at the Philly airport. There was no loss of image quality, and it works as before, so that's why I say it is pretty darn rugged.

A lot of the USA & International magazines give it high marks. Kudows to Tamron. This is from Tamrons "SP" division which is Super Performance.
The lens is worth more than what Tamron asks for.
Also several websites say this lens out performs Canon's, Nikon's & Sigma's 70-300 lenses. Most all of the other guy's lenses start at F/4.5 and only stabilize images 1.5 - 3.0 stops ! This Tamron zoom starts at F/4.0 which is a little bit
faster & Tamrons VC, Vibration Compensation can stabilize 3.0 - 4.0 stops. This is a very good lens, you will NOT be let down !

Comments about Tamron Tamron SP AF70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC Ultra Silent Drive (USD) Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Mount:

Lens gets high marks when directly compared to it's Canon equivalent. It is more affordable than the Canon.

I haven't tested this lens on moving objects. The VC takes a second to stabilize the image. My Canon IS lenses don't take this long. Thus, I am guessing it will not work or perhaps interfere with a burst of pictures. However, for still images or e.g. birds that aren't flying once the VC takes hold it seems to work very well.

I have only taken about 50 pictures with this lens and for the price I am very satisfied.

This is a great lens for the money. The vibration reduction function works wonders. Its pretty neat to watch it kick in when you press the shutter button halfway down. The autofocus is also very fast (as long as its not to dark out).

Comments about Tamron Tamron SP AF70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC Ultra Silent Drive (USD) Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Mount:

I received this lens today, and have already taken many test photos. The lens performed above my expectations. I was prepared to spend $$$$ n canon L-Glass 70-300 L, however, I thought that I would give this lens a try. I also looked at the non-L 70-300, however, I decided that lens was dated.

This Tamron has their new USD witch works unbelievable well. Additionally, it has a full time manual focus which is great for video. The image stabilization works very well, and is also great for video.

This lens is very sharp, feels solid, and performs well above its price. This is the best value in zoom lenses across all manufacturers right now. Get one, and you will not be disappointed. And no, i do not work for Tamron!

Couldn't be happier! Works in low light down to 1/8 most of the times! Sharp. AF is accurate and quick, though not quite silent. Wish it also had macro.
Next Tamron will be 90mm 2.8 Macro.

Comments about Tamron Tamron SP AF70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC Ultra Silent Drive (USD) Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Mount:

The lens is excellent for the price point. But with my Canon 5D Mark11 and a battery pack the overall weight is certainly on the heavy side.

Comments about Tamron Tamron SP AF70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC Ultra Silent Drive (USD) Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon EOS Mount:

I swore I'd never buy a Tamron lens. I used to sell camera gear and I hated them. They were loud, bulky, ugly and couldn't take a decent picture to save themselves. I got out of the biz and hadn't followed them much. My friends told me about the 18-50, how much Tamron was improving and this 70-300 that was coming out. Looking at the Canon, Sigma and this Tamron, everywhere online said this was a much better lens. I was cautious in making this purchase but glad I did. This is tack sharp at all lengths, the stabilizer is great, and on a good body, the AF is great. My Rebel T2i is a little slow but it seemed better on other lenses. My only complaints is that the lens hood is HUGE and slightly awkward when reversed (but Hey its free!) and the macro is like non existant at any focal length. Comparing this to Canon and Sigma there is no comparison. As far as IQ goes, I might even say this is better than the 70-200 f/4.
