This is a great lens for the price. Shooting indoors without a flash is a bit of a struggle, but I knew it would be when I bought it. It's fast and super silent. It's also light for it's size.

I would have given it 5 stars, but since the f-stop can only go to 4, it's not perfect. If that's not needed then this is a great zoom lens to own and maybe the only one you'll need until the situation presents itself.

Borrowed a friend's equivalent Nikon and liked the VR feature. This Tamron zoom snaps in focus and the VR feature seems to outperform the borrowed Nikon for less money. It will replace a prime lens,a heavier zoom and my tripod when I visit Yellowstone this February. Looking forward to better photos with less equipment on my third trip there in winter.

I ordered and received this lens, only to find that it seriously under-exposed. Adorama agreed the lens was mal-functioning and had me return and exchange it. Got the new lens, only to find it had the same problem. Called Tamron and their rep told me it must have been a "bad batch" of lenses. I could, if I wanted, send it to them for repair. "Repair" a brand new lens? No way. Adorama confirmed that sometimes a "bad batch" of lens can be provided to them. So, I exchanged it for the equivalent 70-300 mm Nikon lens. The entire messy ordeal left me wondering- and skeptical - about the quality of Tamron lenses. Not sure if I will ever take a chance with Tamron again.

I wasn't sure about getting a lens other than a Nikon,but I found out that Tamron is a high quality lens.It's quick focus,quiet and the VC is great.I would buy this again.You can't go wrong.

This is really an amazing lens. Tamaron got right on just about everything here. It focuses quickly and quietly and the image stabilization is incredible. And the images themselves? Razor sharp! For the price it would be hard to find a better tele-zoom. I'm really anxious to try the other offerings in this series by Tamaron. If you are in the market for a lens in this range you will not be disappointed.
