You need to go enable "Shoot without lens" in the menus.
Otherwise the camera thinks there is no lens, or a mis-attached lens, and like you said, won't take a photo.

It did not work properly on my G-1. It was difficult to fit on my Macro-Elmarit 60 mm. When you attched the lens-adaptor to the camera, the G-1 display a error message: "check if the lens is properly fixed to the camera body. And ne matter waht you do, it is impossible to get de camera working.
