Comments about Canon Canon Lens Hood EW-83B-II for EF 28-70/2.8:

I was hesitant to spend the money (kind of expensive) for this. I bought a lens without a hood and have used one of those collapsable rubber hoods. But the lure of the right tool for thr job kept nagging at me. Finally I broke down and bought it. Very glad I did. As usual Canon makes a special hood for each lense according to specifics and this was no exception. The rubber hood I was using worked with mixed results, this hood has no mixed results...it works perfectly. Also of note...when you reverse the hood,which I do when I put the camera in a bag,it fits absolutelt perfectly in the space between the lens and the body, a very tight fit. All in all, you can find aftermarket solutions....but it seems Canon always has the best solution. There are no down sides to it.
