I bought this to use on the Canon 17-40mm F/4 L instead of the hood supplied with it.
While the supplied hood is fine for a full frame camera like the 5D, on the crop sensor 40d (1.6) this is the ticket. It is a little deeper on the sides and proves effective. It is a tight fit at first but has losened up with use and now works very well indead.
