Fell off too often. Just returned from a 5,600 mile trip to Yellowstone, Tetons, Moab etc... About 2,000 miles into the trip I noticed it was missing. Fell off numerous times in the past before this trip. Need the protection but will not spend the price that Nikon wants for a replacement. Will look for used of aftermarket.
If you find it I will send you postage if you mail it to me ;-)

The item works exactly the way it is supposed to. It looks pretty rugged, a good fit with the pro lens.

useful replacement if you break, lose, or otherwise do not have a Nikon 70-200 VR lens hood

why not thumb screw-able.
