I keep this in my camera bag and when I change lens before I go to shoot I blow out the lens. Because we live in the desert you cannot change lens at an
event. It is just way to dusty. So my little space shuttle air blaster cleans the lens. It's great, I love it.

The Giottos Rocket Air Blaster seems like a well-made product that delivers a solid blast of air that is suppose to dislodge dust particles on a dslr's sensor filter. It did get rid of several large particles of dirt on my Nikon d80, but, after several attempts, other particles remained stubbornly lodged on my sensor (filter). I believe the Giottos' device is a good start on solving the dust-on-the-sensor issue, but, ultimately, the only way to really remove all the dust, is to do a more thorough cleaning -- or just ignore the dust as most particles won't show up on photos unless you're shooting at the highest f-stops.

I was a bit doubting before buying this and had planned to send my DSLR to Cannon directly for a cleanup; but I went ahead and purchased it taking into account of the simplicity of its use.
And, the blower turned out to be a very efficient one. It cleaned even the minutest dust particle present in the sensor. It gives good burst of air, not too strong or weak - just the apt power required for a DSLR.

This really saved my time, and also helped to keep my camera always for my daily use. This is a real handy tool, and a must have for travel - where camera is exposed to various weather conditions, especially while interchanging lenses.

The only slight con is that this may not fit in a compact case, but that is well explainable, as the air which this gives out is really good and powerful.

Highly recommend this one.

Easy to use[...] I used this to clean the sensor of my NIKON D40 which was showing black dots on my pictures. I used the settings in my camera to open the shutter and to expose the sensor. Used this blower to blow away the dust. Black dots are gone now. I then used this one to clean the dust in my computer keyboard etc....

It works as advertised. I've used this to clean my keyboard and computer in addition to cleaning my camera and lenses. It delivers a nice blast of air and is like having a less powerful can of compressed air. The advantage is that it never runs out!

The only thing that isn't so great is that the fact that the product states that the air inlet valve prevents air back-flow from the nozzle. Although this is mainly true, when I used it I heard a little whistling noise from the tip which probably meant that some air was being let in from the tip. Despite this, I have not (yet) seen any dust blowing back onto my lens.

Also, another thing to note would be the removable air tube/nozzle. Although removable, it is probably not intended to be removed after each use as it was somewhat difficult to remove and reattach.

This rocket blower rocks. I've bought two, one for my lenses and one for my sensor. If you frequently change lenses this is a must to keep nasty dust from eventually showing up in your pictures. A must for all DSLR owners!

The Rocket Air Blaster comes in several sizes. This (I think) is the largest and it does fill my hand completely. I got it in anticipation of one day needing to blow debris off the mirrors of my telescope. Since my telescope is new that will be some time in the future. However, the guys at our Lunar Observing Group loved it and so do I. It's so darn cute.

It's a little bulky perhaps, but you can store it vertically if you want. It blows a decent amount of air, and blows off dust pretty well, not just on cameras, useful for keyboards, laptops, and other electronics.
Just, please, don't expect huge amounts of pressure like a compressed air can. Never use air cans for your cameras by the way!
The faster you squeze, the more air you get, very simple. =]

Good volume and pressure -- it will blow off all loose stuff and even some of the static-stuck particles. Soft, natural rubber so you don't have to worry about all the VOC-containing synthetics. There is a one-way valve in the back that ensures air is pulled from the rear and blown forward--makes sure that you aren't sucking dust back up into the nozzle.

Only con is that it is a little bulky and the nipple is hard to remove. If you take the nipple off, you're going to spend 30 seconds getting it back on, so I am not sure it is worth breaking it down. I think there is a shorter version on the market if you don't have space in your bag.

Don't think that you are going to remove the nipple everytime you use it -- it is just not practical to do so.

The rocket puts out a nice strong blast of air. Hold the extension thingy while squeezing to direct the air. It could be a little more compact to allow packing, but then it wouldn't have the air volume. For packing in a small camera case, you will have to buy the smaller model.

After reading about this product on a camera club discussion board, I bought it to clean the sensor in my DSLR. It worked OK, but I had to squeeze it several times really hard to get enough force to blow the dust particles out. Still, using it to clean is preferable to touching the sensor.

I purchased the blaster to remove dust from lenses and filters. It sits in my studio where I also use it to clear debris in my macro set up. Once the scene is set up I can blast some air to remove dust or other small objects that may have settled on the subject or stage. I can also give some more directional blasts by holding the red nozzle and squeezing the bulb with the other hand. This is very useful at times where a brush will not reach.

I purchased the "air blaster" originally to blow dust off of filters and lenses where it does a good job. I have it sitting in my photo studio and find it useful for removing dust and debris for my macro setup. In many cases I can accurately direct the blast of air by hold the red nozzle with one hand and squeezing the bulb with the other.

I've had one of those little combination brush/blower things for years and have used the brush part to flick bits off the lens, but the blower always left something to be desired. This blower really puts out a gust. I use it to knock dust off the lens, the sensor, even off the body of the camera. I picked up one of those pen style lens brushes, and that along with this blower is all I need to do everyday cleaning.

I was literally amazed at the powerful odor of this product. Imagine the effect of MSG on the taste of food, and imagine the smell of a tire. Now imagine a tire whose odor is enhanced in a similar way.
The force of the air is not as strong as I'd hoped, either. Perhaps it's asking too much, but I was hoping that this could be a perfect replacement for canned air, but the air pressure is not really close to that. I have literally watched this fail to blow away pieces of hair.
On the plus side I did get a mini-workout trying to get it to blow harder.
There is a small amount of suction on the tip when the product refills with air, so not all of the air will have gone through the dust filter on the back.

This air blaster is a quality product, sturdy and easy to use. I did not try to use it for sensor dusting but it works great on lenses and filters. The only problem is that it's fairly big and takes a lot of room in my camera bag.

I love this blower. I had dust specs on my sensor and was dreading trying to clean it after reading all of the horror online. This blower took care of all of my dust to date and has been great. It's unbelievable how such a simple thing as an air blower can be so very well done.
It's just a little rubber balloon that blows air.. but:
1) It has a nice stand so you can rest it anywhere
2) It sucks air from the back and blows through the tip so you are never blowing and sucking the same dust over an over
3) Looks very high quality material
4) looks cool
5) Helps reduce stress (yeah sure)

The "finned" base makes a useful stand for the unit and it moves a LOT of air. Appears as if this will last a lifetime. It takes up a fair amount of space in the camera bag but it's utility makes it worth the real estate it occupies. I consider it a must have in my camera bag particularly when I am out on a shoot.

This dust blower does everything it is designed to do. It provides enough of an air stream to get off the dust that sometimes accumulates on the lens. I found it a little bigger than necessary, so it gets in the way a little bit in the bag, but it's not too much of an issue.

Great product, but bulb could be of a better material. Rubber (Butyl) smell is very evident.

They should have used a silicone based bulb. Back in the '60's and still have as an 'in the bag' item, a 'Hand Bulb Ear/Nose baby Syringe" (aspirator)... made of a better flexible materail, but not as forceful. Maybe Giottos coud charge a bit more, and make colorful bulbs of silicone based material for all around work and 'wet' applications. ??? Ummmm??

The Rocket Air Blaster is just what it says it is. It produces a focused blast of air that just blows the dust off you lens. It's a little bulky to stick in a pocket, but stick it in your camera bag and use it before you set out.

I use it whenever I'm changing lens on my camera. The strong air pressure from this device is ideal for cleaning the lens and the sensor. It's safer than using a brush and cheaper than having a technician service your camera.

It just doesn't work for sensors. And I guess that any blower won't. You just can't remove the dust that clings to the sensor due to electrostatic charges, now matter how hard you blow. Invest in a "wet" system- I did, and I am very happy. If you already own it, save it for lenses - it does its job here.

Yes it is larger than the average blower but don’t think of it as a blower but as a can air replacement. It’s the same size as a small can air but sometimes when lest expected you get that white frost across something you did not want dust on. Yah that ice is worse than that spec of dust. As long as you can breath air it will not run out.

I have bought 4 of this blowers.The first pair through the web, it worked well but had a horrible smell in the rubber bulb,after several washings with detergents and letting it aireate even in the sun for a couple of hours, after 4 weeks the odor is almost gone. The second pair I ordered by phone and explained the problem, they arrived without any bad smell and were brand new stock.

One criticism; as you squeeze, if you do it with gusto, the unit moves and the air may not go in the direction you want.

There are lots of blowers on the market. This one is most notable because of its rocket fins. They do help it to stand upright if that's important. Other than that, it's a bit large and doesn't fit in my camera gear bag, so it's not much use on the job. It does provide a good quantity of air, but I'm not terribly impressed.

Worked great on the loose dust on my sensor. I had 10-12 specs and now I am down to two that must be sticky, or oily or something because I can't blow them off, so I will have to try a wet method to get those. This is a great first step for cleaning your sensor though... and I know I'll use it for a lot of other things around the house. Really gives a good poof of air.

Buy it once & no more need for expensive canned air that always runs out when you need it most! It takes up no more space than a single can and it's safe around kids & pets.

As other reviewers said, it operates exactly as advertised. How often can you say that nowdays?

I do have one suggestion for improvement. Put another one-way valve in reverse at the base of the air nozzle to block air backing up through the nozzle. Despite the one-way valve in the bulb some air still gets sucked up when the bulb is released.

The rocket blower is one of the most important items in my gear. This should always be the first defense against sensor dust. A couple of strong puffs after every shoot will keep your sensor clear and dust free. The same goes for each lens that I used for the day. This is probably the item I use the most often in my camera bag. Every photographer should have this in their bag.

A great product that every photographer needs to have in camera bag. I would definitely get this large version than the smaller ones. Yes, it is big and you might not feel like carrying it around in your bag. BUT if your camera is prone to collecting dust in focus screen and mirror, this product is a must have.

Very effective and cost efficient way to clean digital sensors and pesky dust off of lenses. At 7.5" its bulky, but canned air is just as bulky. Heavyweight construction means this thing will hold up. The goal now is to keep it out of reach of my 3 year old who thinks it is to be used as a squirt gun on his younger brother.

Takes up a bit of room, however the high volume of air that is taken in the back and never reused is great. Easily cleans mirrors, sensors in the camera.

At 7.5" its not something you lug around with ya, but it certainly help get rid of dust on my sensor! Good product.

I had 21 noticeable specs (dust on the sensor) on my new Rebel XT and about 6 of these were very noticeable and large when viewed on my computer. In desperation I ordered the Giottos Rocket Air Blaster, as air is the only method approved by Canon in cleaning the camera sensor. If you don't want to void your warranty, there is no alternative.

Results:
The results were unexpected and astounding, only 2 small dust specs remained and barely noticeable unless magnified on the computer. The Rocket Air Blaster is large at 7.5", but packs an amazing volume of air. Also, I only spent 30 seconds to clean the sensor, an amazing result.

Recommendations:
If you use a digital SLR camera, chances are you will need to have the sensor cleaned at some stage. I strongly recommend the Giottos Rocket Air Blaster as a simple, practical and cheap method of cleaning your camera sensor.

It had a very strong odor when I first removed it from its packaging and took a week or two to dissipate. I use only it when I change lenses and then only in a relatively calm and dust free area.

Very effective and cost efficient way to clean digital sensors. Took 2 minutes with test photo to clean the sensor. nearly nothing remains at f/36, i almost never shoot that high so its perfect. Admittedly at 7.5" its bulky, but how often do you need to bring a sensor cleaner with you somewhere? Heavyweight construction, all of my camera gear would break before this would, the rubber bulb wall has to be .25" thick; probably couldnt break it if i tried.

Worked REALLY well on all the dust I could see. Very impressed with how well it cleard things up and no real complaints. A bit big to carry around in camera big, but you know this from the description of "Extra-large" anyway.

Be prepared to be surprised. This is a larger than you expect. It also works great on camera sensors and you will never need to buy compressed air again because it will clean monitors, keyboards, mice and anything else that you used to clean with compressed air.

This blaster is very effective. It's just a bit too large to put in my camera lag. This is not necessarily a complaint as I know smaller ones aren't nearly as effective.

Just a few blasts into the sensor and those dark spots that plague your digital photos are history (mostly). Some dust may be more sticky than this can handle but it gets the vast majority. Be careful to keep it put away if you have kids. They think it's cool but you won't think baby spit is cool in your gear.

The downside of interchangable lenses is opening the mirror box to dust which manifests itself as dark spots on your photos, especially at small (f16) apertures. Though some newer DSLRs (Olympus, Sony, Canon) have auto sensor cleaning the older ones don't. The Rocket Air Blaster is the best cure. It's inexpensive, safe and looks really cool. Be sure to put the camera into sensor clean mode, hold it with the mirror box pointing down and sharply squeeze several blasts of air into the mirror box. Be careful not to touch the cleaner's tip to anything inside the camera though.
Kids, including babies, think the Rocket Blaster looks cool so keep it put away or you may be blasting baby spit on your gear.

Works well. I used it on the DSLR camera, laptop computer, CD changer for the sound system, etc. This has a MUCH lower environmental impact than using canned air, but the blasts are in short bursts, of course, so it does not have quite the same effect. Still, I plan to use it for everything I used to use canned air for. Your hand will either tire out or get stronger if you use it to blast a lot.

This air blaster REALLY works! I've used several other smaller ones and they just don't have the power to blow dust away. This one does!

This is a wonderful product that works. It works 99% of the time. That other 1% is when you get a stubborn speckle of dust that just would not budge. I do wish there was a stronger burst of an air pocket to dislodge that type of dust. The only ones I know of would be the concentrated air spray cleaners which are not recommended for such use.

There's nothing to not like. It works well. It packs easily. It's light. It provides a clean blast of air. It will stand upright. The rubber stays pliable even when cold.

If you're going to blow off your digital sensor use this product. NEVER use canned air. This works quite well on loose dust but can't get dust particles that are really stuck on.
