Film and digital photography mostly incident light measurement. Easy to use and dead nuts accurate. Gossen is great. I have 48 yr old Gossen Pilot that is within 1/2 f stop of the new one. It needs an included simple foot so that it can be used on older film cameras. The seperate foot is flimsy and expensive.

After many years I thought I should replace my old Gossen light meter. I have shot 4 rolls of film with the new Gossen. Naturally it represents a great advance for me: the ease with which one learns the suitable combinations and the confidence one has in the measurement.
One criticism. The instructions regarding the incident light method are poor to put it mildly. It must be a translation from another language. It confused me. Fortunately, I still had the instructions for the old Gossen and these helped to clear the matter up.

This truly is a great meter. I have one criticism to make and that is the alarm sound is extremely feeble. My hearing is not the best but you almost have to hold the meter to your ear to hear it. There are no holes or vents in the casing to allow the sound to escape. I'm sure the buzzer is doing a good job, it's just that the case is almost soundproof. Fortunately, I don't need the alarm or timer so the sound defect is not a problem for me. For timed exposures I have a remote with timer, and the sound is very clearly heard from this.

You have to pick the ISO and it will give you a variable Shutter speed and a constant aperture of 5.6

I like the analog and digital read out...I found it very easy to use. It works perfectly for my portrait photography.

I use the meter when I am not sure of the lighting, especially when it is darker than usual.

For those times that call for a handheld meter or incident light reading, this is a good solution. It has a few features you may not need, but it does its job very well.
