I also own an L358, which I originally intended to sell but I see the value of having two meters. I wanted the L758 for its built-in spot metering capability which is a clumsy add-on for the 358. I use this meter on every shoot. I'm just getting into HDR and the spot meter function is indispensable. Having read the info on the camera profiling feature, I plan on using that as well.

I carry a forty year old Sekonic L28c2, and my primary L758DR which has spot metering, a highly essential tool for a variety of situations, such as back-light, harsh reflections, and through glass.

From my decades of experience in film and digital, it's a forgone conclusion the camera's meter cannot guarantee a proper exposure EVERY time.

However, a hand-held meter is not infallible, but I firmly believe it will provide a consistent and accurate reading in the long-run.

If you're totally committed to photography, this would be a better investment than spending $600 on a new lens.

I really like the quality and the overall use of the device. It nails lighting situations every time, especially the tricky shots with high contrast and subtle fabrics (like in a wedding dress) .

My only 'con' would be that some buttons are to close to the optical system of the spot meter. Impacting the handling some what.

Great product by sekonic. Quite easy to use though instructions are very poor on the users manual. The DR comes with a PW built in so you'd better have some on your bag otherwise not all the RT are compatible with it. I have Yongnuo latest release and they don't sync at all so my next purchase is definetely a few PWs's.

Used in studio / on location to accurately measure exposure.

Controls are well positioned. Documentation is reasonably good. Unit is well made.

Instructions for sensor profiling could be better. Version 2 software and profile target II are much better than version 1 counterparts. Use the custom setting when creating the profile to use flash exclusively.

Learned the hard way that multi-flash setting does not filter for CLS iTTL pre-flash. Works with SB-800 set in SU-4 built-in strobe on D300 set to manual mode just fine though. Note that SB-600s do not have SU-4 mode.

Sekonic always produces top of the line equipment.The price is the same, but you get what you pay for. The unit can not reach it's advertised potential with out the target. No mention that the unit is only an ordinary light meter with it. An additional $100.00 to acquire a cardboard plastic sheet is a bit much. I feel I have been ripped off.

Super meter and especially unique in its ability to be calibrated against your camera's sensor. The instructions for calibration are not as clear as could be although a video on Sekonic's web site is now available.

This is a very good meter, especially for digital photographers who want to profile their cameras for more accurate measurements. Easy to use and to understand.
