I have used Carl Zeiss lenses with Hasselblad camera bodies and always wanted to purchase the Zeiss cleaning fluid for a long time. In Sri Lanka good quality (and expensive) gear is hard to get. I purchased the fluid through the internet and patiently awaited its arrival at my office. I have been using 'Kinetronics' as well as 'Photographic Solutions' lens cleaning products for many years and was satisfied with the results.

The Zeiss lens cleaning liquid dissapointed me from the first use. I used it on my new Nikon lenses using the Zeiss micro-fibre cloth (provided) and the results were poor. The liquid does not evaporate as expected and leaves streaks as residue on the lens surface. when you feel the liquid with your fingers it has a certain stickyness.

The second test I did was to make sure I completely remove the residue with the Zeiss micro-fibre cloth (by carefully rubbing the cloth on the lens for an extended period of time)afterwards breathing on the lens, The cleaning streaks were still visible.

It is quite difficult to fathom why this happens. Zeiss is a company which produces super great lenses and stands for great quality and customer satisfaction.

I have at present stopped using the fluid on any lens and have started using the previous brands to clean the lens surfaces.
