As others have mentioned the bottom is not padded. I bought this to repurpose a different bag so I simply added extra foam to the bottom and for more support added cardboard along the sides to give it more "structure".

If you buy a Domke bag, buy the insert for your equipment! They are as well made as the bags!

excellent insert, I currently have 3 of them and they are fantastic from wide angle to telephoto. if you have a camera without the grip its perfect!
