Comments about Kata Kata D-3N1-10; 3 in 1 Sling Backpack for D/SLR with Mid-Range Zoom Lens Attached & 1-2 Extra Lenses & Accessories:

Works great with my D90 with Sigma 18-250mm lens attached (with petal hood reversed). It also holds my 50mm 1.8 and one SB-600 with ease. Upper pocket is good for a point and shoot of some kind or other small items. Side pockets don't hold much, I throw my remote and USB jump drive in there on one side and a spare battery on the other.

I also got the tripod holster. It says it is for field tripods- I have a SILK Master Classic, which is in no way a field tripod. It fits, BARELY. I use this mainly for going to photography class and back- have not done any major packing with it.

Access is the main benefit to this pack. Super simple to swing around, pop the clasp and pull the zippers open. I have a 19mo daughter and speed is key when photographing her- fumble around with your gear and you miss the shot.

I listed the only con as "too small" and the only reason for that is, if you have any more gear than I listed- you will be super cramped. If this is the case, get the 20 or even the 30. I got the 10 for lightweight, walking around the playground type stuff.

thanks for reading. happy shooting.

Comments about Kata Kata D-3N1-10; 3 in 1 Sling Backpack for D/SLR with Mid-Range Zoom Lens Attached & 1-2 Extra Lenses & Accessories:

Intended use: As a smaller bag to transport my gear inside my larger multi-day camping bag. Then to transport gear away from camp on hikes. Also as my all around bag for around town.

=======
PROS
=======

• Compact design.

• Can choose left or right sling access.

• Expandable interior compartment (unzip divider, but lose space to store personal items).

• Bright yellow interior makes finding items easy.

• Easy access to setup (Rebel Xti with battery grip and attached 17-55mm f/2.8)

=======
CONS
=======

• Shoulder straps are not comfortable at all. Too soft, need better stability, better contouring, sticky material and padding. They slide off shoulders.

• Waist stabilizing strap is not comfortable.

• Strap stitching starting to fray.

• Must pull up to tighten shoulder straps—that's odd and doesn't work work better than the normal 'pull-down' design.

• Side access panels do not zip closed all the way (see photo). Probably makes for faster access just using the buckle strap to keep opening closed, but I'm concerned about dirt getting in.

=======
VERDICT
=======

I am returning and considering the LowePro FastPack which offers same access style as 3N1 but has better straps. I've owned several LowePro bags and thought I'd try something new—never again.

For walking around town for a few hours it should be fine. I would not consider using this bag if you have pro equipment. It may fit what you need, but heavy glass will make the strap/harness system painful to bear.

Comments about Kata Kata D-3N1-10; 3 in 1 Sling Backpack for D/SLR with Mid-Range Zoom Lens Attached & 1-2 Extra Lenses & Accessories:

I purchased this bag to hold and transport my Sony DSLR A300 with 100mm-300mm zoom lens and stock lens, along with the standard stuff like charger, filters, CF cards, reader, extra battery, cords, and a few little misl items. It holds everything well, and provides good access to the camera. It took me a few trys to get the interior situated, but it came out nicely for camera access. To get to the other items, however, I have to open the large access flap, which is ok as long as you remove the pack from the carry position.
If you are looking for a primay sling bag, or back pack bag, there are better bags for those specific purposes, but if you think you want the flexability of switching from back pack to sling, then this is the one. I found the cross strap back pack set up to be not usable for me. The sling set up seems ok for short periods, but not as comfortable as the back pack set up. The bag is well made, has plenty of room for my needs, but if you really load one up, you may want to add some slide on pads to the should straps. I am not disappointed with the bag. Again, it is a bag that does it all ok, which is it's purpose.

Comments about Kata Kata D-3N1-10; 3 in 1 Sling Backpack for D/SLR with Mid-Range Zoom Lens Attached & 1-2 Extra Lenses & Accessories:

This is a great all-around day bag. I tried a larger sling bag (that can also accommodate my laptop), but that's too big for day trips. I tried a shoulder/belt convertible, but it can't carry my D40x, 2nd lens, video gear, extra batteries, etc.

It took a little trial and error to get the compartment dividers arranged properly, and some of the compartments get a little tricky to get into, but the main compartments are easy enough and quick drawing the camera out is fairly smooth operation.

Construction seems very sturdy and pretty well padded. Besides operating as a sling bag, you can also set the straps to work as a backpack, and includes a waist belt to help stabilize if necessary.

Comments about Kata Kata D-3N1-10; 3 in 1 Sling Backpack for D/SLR with Mid-Range Zoom Lens Attached & 1-2 Extra Lenses & Accessories:

I really do love this bag. It is the perfect size to carry my Sony A200, 18-70, 75-300, 50 prime and it still has a little room in the camera compartment. The upper storage area is great to toss in a snack, extra supplies, wallet, keys, etc. It is really roomy for such a small pack. I went through several bags before buying the KATA and I would definitely recommend them. The construction is first rate, the protection is first rate and it is very comfortable with the ability to wear it as a sling, traditional backpack or a crossed strap pack. That right there was the deal closer for me. I can wear as a sling to have fast access, but if I need to go for an extended walk or hike I can quickly go to a full backpack for added comfort and stability.

Comments about Kata Kata D-3N1-10; 3 in 1 Sling Backpack for D/SLR with Mid-Range Zoom Lens Attached & 1-2 Extra Lenses & Accessories:

I was seeing if I could take advantage of some [...]deals during their liquidation sales and was keeping tabs on some small-to-medium sling-style bags from LowePro and Tamrac. But, this bag was still cheaper, looked better and still had a rebate applied to it and had so many compartments and detachable pockets and internal padding that I couldn't believe the price of this product. I wore this bag for the first time for 6 hours at a wedding shoot and had no issues with accessibility or discomfort. I was able to fit my Nikon D80 with an attached battery grip and a 18-200mm lense and a SB-600 flash all fit snugly in the main compartment. I was also able to fit a 50mm (in its box) with 4 packs of AA batteries in the smaller top compartment. There are two additional top side pockets big enough to fit your phone and wallet in each. The product description of this bag couldn't be more perfect and it's price is even better.

I use this bag as walk-around bag. Very easy to use and helps a little when stablizing your shots by propping your arms on the side of bag when it is used in the sling position. My only hang up is that it is hard to get to the storage in the middle of the bag because it is a snug fit and the flap on the front does not extend all the way back. Other than that, its quick in and out with your camera even with a battery grip.

Comments about Kata Kata D-3N1-10; 3 in 1 Sling Backpack for D/SLR with Mid-Range Zoom Lens Attached & 1-2 Extra Lenses & Accessories:

Surprised by the quality of the bag. They have used quality materials with very strong construction. Each panel feels quite thick and semi-rigid and subsequently, protective for your gear. Lots of nice little touches too: removeable pouches for batteries, cards etc., clever strap arrangements for different tastes, rain cover, cushioned back for extra comfort. Looks and feels modern. The 3N1-10 is fairly small (check dimensions), but suits my limited equipment - D90 w/ 18-105mm, 50mm f1.8 and lensbaby and SB600 flash. Go bigger (3N1-20 or 30) if you have a lot of lenses or other extras.
