Comments about Lowepro Lowepro Flipside 300 Digital SLR Backpack, Water Resistant with Removable Accessory Pouch, Black:

The LowePro Flipside 300 is awesome! Very comfortable yet plenty of protection. It is definitely roomy for how compact it is. I have my Nikon D80 with an 18-135 Nikkor lens, my Pentax 35mm camera w/two lenses, a flash, plenty of film, and my battery charger all in this pack at the same time. It all fits just right. Highly recommended for anyone that doesn't have to lug around three cameras and a bunch of lenses!

Comments about Lowepro Lowepro Flipside 300 Digital SLR Backpack, Water Resistant with Removable Accessory Pouch, Black:

I'm using this product for my Olympus E-5 with vertical grip, attached with a 14-54II with hood, 2 FL-36R, vertical grip battery, a black rapid, 2 flash wireless receptors, cable release, some filters, and all the cables and battery chargers... believe me it is roomy.
All the interior dividers can be customize, the removable waist and chest harnesses are great... I don't want them on all the time, the removable accessory bag it's nice.
The zipper would not open all the way... so it is kind of hard use the very bottom spaces, but not critical.

Comments about Lowepro Lowepro Flipside 300 Digital SLR Backpack, Water Resistant with Removable Accessory Pouch, Black:

The flipside 300 is almost a little too deep for my Canon T2i but would probably fit a larger camera like the 60D, 7D, etc a little more snug or small camera with grip. Compartments are customizable. The shoulder straps are very comfortable. This would be a great backpack if you are going to be doing any type of hiking or climbing because it has a chest & waist strap.

Comments about Lowepro Lowepro Flipside 300 Digital SLR Backpack, Water Resistant with Removable Accessory Pouch, Black:

I use this backpack as an all-in-one camera bag/handbag & also carry-on bag when travelling. The Nikon D90 with the 18-105mm & 70-300mm lenses, flash unit, several cords & batteries all fit with plenty of room to spare for personal belongings. The removeable pouch is a great idea to lighten the load a bit on day trips by leaving behind non-essential items. There's heaps of room for spare batteries & memory cards in the zippered pockets on either side. On the down side: the D90 manual is a very tight fit in the zippered pocket on the inside of the flap. Also, while the flip-side-opening is great for security while travelling, it does make it difficult to get the camera out in a hurry.

Comments about Lowepro Lowepro Flipside 300 Digital SLR Backpack, Water Resistant with Removable Accessory Pouch, Black:

I got this bag primarily because of the security factor -- it's one of only two camera bags that I know of (the other ones being in the Crumpler line) that can't be opened while you're wearing them, which as any urban traveller knows is a big risk. However, I don't carry a lot of camera equipment (DSLR body + two lenses + small flash + Gorillapod) and wanted something that would also fit a few daily essentials (guidebook, a water bottle, jacket, etc.) -- and this bag just isn't flexible enough to fit that purpose. Even though there are a lot of velcro bits on the padded dividers they're actually arranged such that you can't be that creative with how you arrange the dividers. I struggled a lot to find an arrangement that would maximize the space and also keep my camera equipment separated from the stuff I put at the top. The only arrangement I could come up with (placing the long divider diagonally across the bottom) was too awkward to be functional.Ultimately I felt like I wasn't getting enough flexible carrying capacity for what felt like a sizeable bag. And, of course, it still looks like a camera bag. I've returned it and am going with the National Geographic Walkabout Rucksack, which sacrifices some security but looks and works a lot better for my purposes.

Comments about Lowepro Lowepro Flipside 300 Digital SLR Backpack, Water Resistant with Removable Accessory Pouch, Black:

This backpack easily accommodates by Nikon D90 with the Nikkor 70-200 m lens, plus the Nikkor 18-200 mm lens, the Sigma 10-20 mm lens, the Nikkor 50 mm, and the SB-600 speedlight, as well as filters and other odds and ends. It is very comfortable on my back. I find access to equipment quite convenient -- finally I have something I don't have to put down in order to change lenses. The only minus is that I cannot reach the water bottle without turning the backpack forward -- but I don't seen how this could be improved. All in all, a very good deal.

[...]This pack has a great rear access for security, you can simply slide off the shoulder straps, and twist it in front of you and access the camera, all while the belt strap holds it to your waist, IE.. You never need to take it completely off to access your camera.Fits and conforms nicely to your body, has a decent amount of room for a D-SLR with attached lens and room for an extra lens and accessories. My only suggestion is that if you are a SeriousWildlife photographer, or starting to shoot wildlife, I would look for a bigger pack, this may not work for the Larger lenses.

Comments about Lowepro Lowepro Flipside 300 Digital SLR Backpack, Water Resistant with Removable Accessory Pouch, Black:

nice compact camera bag to carry gear when exploring cities or crowded streets. No worries of theft because of the design. It evenly distributes the weight, the sternum strap really helps.

The flipside is strictly a camera bag and holds a lot of gear. You can try to to use it as a daypack, but you have to carry less gear. The interior pouch is great for wires or small personal items; like keys, a wallet and etc.

The tripod strap and pocket are great features. It can't handle my full size tripod, but it can handle a light midsize tripod.

One con I have is its outer storage pocket (on the side). It really is only a POCKET. The thing is too tight to store anything thicker than 1/2". I placed a thin pen, a small memo pad, SD card, thin camera remote control and it was a tight fit. There's a clip in the pocket, but it can't accommodate a ring of keys, maybe one key. It would have been nice if the storage pocket was a slightly thicker side pouch, I mean the bag itself it narrow, what's adding a 2" thick zippered side pouch?

Besides the tight pocket, I really like protection of this compact bag. My gear is safe when walking around crowds and my shoulders are not sore anymore.

This is a good backpack. After a 14 hour hike in Yosemite every muscle I have was sore - except my back. Fully packed with my D200 and 70-200 f/2.8, other lenses and accessories and a large tripod this pack did not hurt my back. It also protected my gear through mist, rain, and countless "flips" to access gear. Perfect? Maybe not, but is anything?

I have had this product for 3 months now, I have carried it on hikes and other shoots. It carries enough lenses and equipment, but the idea of having the opening on the inside of the pack is a problem because the shoulder straps and waist strap gets in the way. The strap to hold the tripod in place needs improvement. If you are laying the pack down, the tripod feet come out of the holder.

While it's not the easiest to get at the equipment, it is very safely stowed and I find it perfect for use in NYC. The narrow profile makes it great for City streets and public transportation...less bumping into people. It easily accomodates my 50D with the 70-200 f/4 and hood attached with room for a sandwich and a point and shoot, to boot. And that's with the pouch still inside. It's exactly what I needed and I couldn't be happier.

Comments about Lowepro Lowepro Flipside 300 Digital SLR Backpack, Water Resistant with Removable Accessory Pouch, Black:

I purchased this bag initially for its sleek lines and lack of external "doohickeys" that could get caught on trees while shooting on location in jungles or forests (nature photography).

At first I had a hard time fitting all of my gear into this version (the 300) and thought that perhaps I should have upgraded to the 400, but after looking at the 400, I realized that the jump would have been too big: I would have sacrificed mobility and low profile design for something more akin to a standard backpack.

Having used this pack for over a month it has REALLY grown on me. Accessibility is a dream, storage is just right (though if my gear grows I'll have to do some juggling - which is why it gets 4 stars and not 5), and the build quality inspires confidence. As I've mentioned, I'm enjoying the sleek design, and not just from a design standpoint, but rather, from a functional standpoint: it simply catches on less things and draws less attention when traveling, owing to it's smooth exterior. I feel safer with it since the only access to the gear itself is pressed against your back. They'd have to take the bag to get the gear. Period.

I would highly recommend this bag to anyone thinking of purchasing it.

ps > other details, like, the hideaway tripod holder, and removable belt strap all add to the feeling that they really thought this product through before bringing it to market.

Great for protecting and carrying gear.Great value, it is made very well I just wish it were a little larger. It easily carries my Nikon D40 with a 300mm lens attached and it carries 2, maybe 3 additional lenses and a SB600 flash but that is about it. I wish it had more pouches for storage. The pouch for storing the manual is too small for easy use.

Comments about Lowepro Lowepro Flipside 300 Digital SLR Backpack, Water Resistant with Removable Accessory Pouch, Black:

As my gear collection increased in value, I started thinking about getting a more secure backpack and the Flipside concept fits that need perfectly. The 300 will hold my A700, big standard zoom, a wide angle and my Minolta 200/2.8 as well as a TC and an image bank. There is room up top for a small prime or flash and an outer compartment for memory, batteries etc. It is not as secure as the main compartment that also has storage pockets inside the access lid.

As a small daytrip kit or for air travel with a restrictive carry-on, this is pretty ideal, but I'd have liked room to swap the 200 for my 80-200/2.8, but it just won't fit.

The depth of the pack is greater than most other packs I've used - not a negative feature, but there is a bit of a waste of volume. The space the body sits in is a little roomy as well and the internal dividers could have been shaped to provide a tighter fit. My wide angle sits at the bottom, below the body with lens attached and is a little tough to access. Access into the main compartment is more difficult than a standard (back entry) pack, but again, not overly so. A better "hinge" at the base of the main access flap would have really improved access. The shoulder straps tend to get in the way when opening and accessing gear too. Perhaps as the pack breaks in, the straps will soften up and fall to the sides, out of the way.

All in all, despite these quibbles, I like the security this type of pack offers and can accept the trade-offs. The materials used are excellent and the gear is well padded inside. Finally, it is the MOST comfortable pack I've worn, bar none. (I also own a Tamrac Expedition 5, Lowepro 200AW & owned a Lowepro Orion).

I just bought a second body and have ordered a Flipside 400, so that is a testament to the design. I think the 400 will be a better fit for what I want to travel with, but this one will fill a need as well for daytrips.

The Flipside 300 completely meets the needs I was seeking. It is not a combersome size and it is secure. I am able to have a 50-500, 77Lld, 43Ltd, flash, miscellaneous gear (cables, batteries, memory cards, reference manuals, flash light etc) and the camera would fit also (but it is usually around my neck). I have the Tamrac Extreme but it is overkill for day to day uses, and I use it for general storage and transportation.

This thing is WONDERFUL. I wanted something to comfortably drag my gear around in and this was the right choice. I do a lot of mountain biking and this pack allows me to take my 40D along for the ride along with 3 lenses, a battery grip, 6 filters, 2 extra batteries, oodles of CF cards, lens cleaners, and I STILL have room left! LowePro hit it out of the park with this one. Sturdy build and very secure with its back panel zipper. This thing is great for keeping your gear safe in a crowd.

Comments about Lowepro Lowepro Flipside 300 Digital SLR Backpack, Water Resistant with Removable Accessory Pouch, Black:

I have had several Lowepro shoulder bags for a couple of years -- mostly for carrying equipment to sporting events, band competition, etc. Not heavy use but also haven't babied them -- always good luck with them: rugged, good construction, no defects.

Wanted a back-pack and ordered the Lowepro Flipside 200 Digital SLR Backpack. A little smaller than I wanted: camera section holds Nikon D200 w/17-55mm + one additional lens. Upper section can hold additional lens, flash, etc. Once my wife started to use it, though, she has been quite happy with it and uses it all the time. I've since ordered the Flipside 300 and the combination of the two covers all the gear we need. Flipside 300 is noticeably bigger both in the camera section and the upper area -- great for transporting gear.

Both have appropriate adjustments and have been very comfortable for long periods. The 200 is best when you don't need much, 300 when you need to take more. Highly recommend both.
