Comments about Lowepro Lowepro Flipside 400 AW Backpack with All Weather Cover & Hypalon SlipLock Loops, Black:

The backpack is well built and comfortable to use. I shoot mainly expo's and this bag allows me to carry what I need all day without compromising comfort.
I know some are complaining that if your tall it's uncomfortable but for most it fits great.
I do wish it was just a little larger.

This is a very well made product. The construction is solid and it has great fit & finish. Well worth the asking price. Holds all my gear including a D300 body, 4 lenses and other equipment. It does have some drawbacks. The rear flap does not open far enough. Equipment placed at the bottom of the bag is sometimes harder to get in and out. This may improve with time as the flap becomes less stiff. Also it would be nice if the hip pads/straps were removable as they can get in the way if not being used.

Like the fact that bag must be removed to have equipment access. Reduces risk of accidental dropping of equipment.

An extra inch of length & width would make this bag more useful

Comments about Lowepro Lowepro Flipside 400 AW Backpack with All Weather Cover & Hypalon SlipLock Loops, Black:

All-in-all this constructed perfectly, but is functionally useless. Unfortunately, I am too tall (5'11") and the designers of almost all Lowepro bags seem to be teeny tiny people. I don't know why Lowepro biases itself in this way -- maybe its not marketing to tall people. I don't know. But the fact is that the 400AW was Lowepros best and brightest hope for a good bag for tall people and once again, they failed. If you are 5'11" (like me), then you need to adjust the bag wwaaaaaay down such that the "chest-strap" thing is choking your throat (it becomes a throat slicer). Also most of these backpacks have "wings" on the sides. Big, ugly flaps that are not comfortable if you have love-handles. I am not fat -- but the utter thickness of these sideflaps (which rest against your lovehandles) make you look twice as fat and are so awkward and weird looking, youll be embarrassed to see yourself in the mirror in this thing. If you are a skinny little danty thing, fine. But otherwise you are uncomfortable, because this bag does not fit. And thats unfortunate, because it fits better than any other Lowepro in its class. Buy this bag if you are shorter than 5'8". Period. Its incredibly comfortable padding is truly an advanced technology. Its weatherproof and indestructable. However, it is not for taller people. And its not for anyone with a beer belly. Additionally, think twice about this bag -- it is NOT easy to access your gear, because those "sidewings" (FAT belt flaps) prevent the bag from opening easily. A huge design flaw. The only benefit of this bag is if you are traveling in a place where you think people or children might unzip your bag. 99.99% of the time thats not going to be the case. Please, please don't get this bag or any model under it, if you are tall. I struggle to rate it poorly however, due to the very fantastic quality of material and how beautiful it is. The functionality, however, makes it useless.
