I bought this bag some years ago because I wanted something smaller than the large f.64 bag I already owned. I have used it a lot in the last five or six years and it has held up extremely well. Not long after I bought it I added some additional lens pouches to the sides and that really ups the versatility and capacity of the bag.

I would say that the only real drawback to the bag is that it is slightly uncomfortable due to its very square shape. The way it rides on the hip while strapped to your shoulder isn't the most comfortable. It sticks a considerable distance out from your body because of its deep design. It also makes no attempt to disguise itself as anything but a camera bag so I don't use it when I'm trying to be a bit stealthy. These days it is mainly used as a storage space and occasional transport to the shooting location. Now that I am mainly a rangefinder user, I have no need for a larger bag like this and for daily and street use, I use one that is very compact like the Lowepro Sideline Shooter (also discontinued) or nothing at all.

One obvious advantage that the Elite AW (and the entire AW line) has is the weatherproof covering. It has paid for itself many times over when I had my D/SLR out on a shoot and had to cover up until I could get inside/to the car. Overall I wouldn't, and haven't, hesitated to recommend Lowepro bags to peers/students. Their products have never compromised the bottom line - protection. While I feel that the Elite AW is slightly uncomfortable due to its boxy dimensions, I notice that the newer generations seem to have ergonomics higher on the list of priorities. I'll be using this bag until I wear it out.

I received a nikon camera for christmas and wanted to make sure it was completely protected.It has that and lots of room for storage.
