This bag is the perfect size to carry a field guide. It will actually hold two field guides or one field guide and insect repellent, etc. Comes with a shoulder strap and also has a belt loop. I would prefer that it had a flap over the top instead of a zipper across the middle of the top, but it is still the best inexpensive field guide bag I've found.

I use Domke Ratpack to carry along small electronic flash (Nikon SB800),a medium size lens, camera accessories (memory cards, batteries, charger, cables). It is nice and compact. So far I do not know if it is waterproof and/or wheatherproof because I have never been in a heavy rain and snow or sand storm.

I like the bag - the size works well - but I hate the teal accent color.
