It was a little bit different than LR2 but easy to learn the differences. What a powerful photo processor. I will find it very hard to ever leave this program for another. It may seem a little spendy but worth every penny!

I wasn't happy with LR2 and Nikon raw file rendering. The new RAW rendering engine in LR3 seems like an entirely different product. The color saturation, noise reduction, and overall image quality is much, much better. I set up 5 or 6 presets which make working with RAW files almost as easy as JPEGs from the camera. After using Capture NX2 for the last year, I didn't realize that working with RAW files could be so fast and simple. I also use custom presets to tweak the JPEGs from the Nikon camera which always looked somewhat soft. The adjustments are applied at the time of transfer from the camera to the computer so it requires no extra effort on my part in the work flow.

Use it for editing photos and preparing them for the web. I do not need the power of Photoshop as I only make minimal changes. It is ideal for my needs and is a great upgrade, really nice enhancements to 2.

More of what I loved about Lightroom 2. Nearly* all the functions needed to make good photos great. Lightroom 3 has added everything on my wish list *except HDR. It has watermark editing, better performance, 64-bit, perspective correction, improved sharpening and noise reduction, import preview, etc. Definitely worth a first-time or upgrade purchase.

Upgraded from Lightroom 2 and consider this an excellent expenditure. Easy to use, intuitive.
