Comments about G-Tech G-Tech G-Safe 1 TB RAID 1 Storage Solution with Firewire 800 & USB 2.0 Interface for Mac & Windows:

I purchased the G-Safe after filling up my current external HD with photos. I not only wanted to upgrade the size, but also go with a mirrored drive. This is far superior to any of the "off-the-shelf" mirror drives you can find.

Very easy to set up: plugged it in and worked on my bro's Mac right away; required a quick NTSF re-format to work on my PC.

The drives are easy to swap out to keep a spare backup off site. Unit is quiet and runs at a nice cool temperature. The real-time status monitors for the drives is really nice to have! The peace of mind this unit provides is priceless.

The only draw back is on a PC you're limited to USB2.0 (unless you're lucky enough to have FireWire 800 which I don't). An E-SATA port would have been nice since other G-Tech products have them.

I will be buying another one of these real soon to dump old photos onto. Well worth the cost!
