Comments about SmartDisk SmartDisk Network Attached Storage, (NAS), 400 GB External Hard Drive with Ethernet & USB 2.0 Interface, for Windows 2000 or XP.:

This hard drive takes about 3 to 4 minutes from a cold start before my computer recognizes it. I often rebooted it since I'm used to my other external USB hard drives "popping up" in less than 10 seconds. The designers put the drive in a big box...much larger than other drives of similar capacity. Then they shoved what has to be the noisiest cooling fan into it. I intended on putting the networkable (Ethernet) hard drive onto my home wi-fi WAN, but the noise was so loud I decided against it. I'm returning this drive for another.
