The unit works great. I use it to store and/or back up images from my CF cards until I can get them transferred to my home system. It is easy to use and allows at least 20 GB (usually more) to be copied with charged batteries.

Comments about HyperDrive Sanho HyperDrive HD80, 40 GB Memory Card Backup Storage Device with 24 Bit Copy Verification:
This is probably one of the best photo accessories I've ever purchased. It does exactly what it is supposed to with no hassle. While it's a little bulky, it is as small as the 2.5" laptop drive and 4 AA batteries will allow it to be. The convenience of those batteries far outweigh it being any smaller.
I have put this to the test, running over 8,000 images in a single weekend shoot, and probably over 50,000 images over it's life so far. I have yet to lose a single image. Like I said, it just works.
Much of the time I'm working with it in the dark, so depend solely on the LED readouts for status. Once you become accustomed to the meanings it really is a one-hand intuitive operation. Any other operations are a little arcane, but not really necessary to make use of it.

It is fast to copy and verify, it uses AA NIMH batteries which is a plus since you can replace them with charged ones if needed. It charges the batteries itself when plugged in. It is a bit bulky and heavy, but so am I!

Comments about HyperDrive Sanho HyperDrive HD80, 40 GB Memory Card Backup Storage Device with 24 Bit Copy Verification:
The Hyperdrive is larger than one might prefer. But that size is due in large part to the easily user-replaceable hard drive using a standard 2.5-inch notebook drive. Hyperdrive even includes a screwdriver to open the case, and "5-minute" step-by-step instructions. And, the Hyperdrive's operating system is in firmware, NOT on the hard drive.
The unit also operates on easily user-replaceable AA cells (no tools needed) and has a built-in charger for NiMH cells.
It is an easy device to use - insert a memory card, power on, do nothing else, then in a few seconds the Hyperdrive begins to copy the entire contents of the memory card into a new folder on the hard drive. If you want to verify that each file was properly copied, you can use the Hyperdrive's file verify function - insert a memory card, power up the unit, roll the multi-function wheel "Down" once, do nothing else, then in a few seconds the Hyperdrive copies the memory card using file verification and error detection. Using file verification takes 2 to 3 times longer to copy a memory card than not verifying.
Overall, this is a great unit for backing up photos while out in the field, without having to lug around a notebook computer.

Comments about HyperDrive Sanho HyperDrive HD80, 40 GB Memory Card Backup Storage Device with 24 Bit Copy Verification:
Could have been a good device, but it is far too big and heavy with batteries included. Display and functions are hard to understand and use. I just connect card and the device stores the content automatically. At home I connect the device to the PC and download it's content. Why display? Why buttons? I do not know, I did not understand their use. Anyhow, this is not a keeper.
