Comments about Projet Projet Heavy Weight Double Sided Semi-Gloss Inkjet Paper, 9.0 mil., 17" x 100' Roll.:
I bought this paper in 11"x14" sheets to make holiday calendars for my family. I use a Canon iPF6100 and have a color managed workflow. The 11x14 prints had weird blotchy patterns in certain colors which looked as if the image was extremely noisy (5400 Velvia 100 scans look perfect on my profiled monitor). I was using the profile I created for the 7mil version of this paper, thinking the coatings would be the same. I decided to profile the 9mil version separately and was astounded to see that color patches of the profiling target showed terrible ink pooling and bleeding in many of the colors. I tried reducing the ink amount but the result was the same. This paper is definitely not acceptable for fine art printing, at least on a Canon iPF printer. The glossiness and the brightness as well as the paper thickness and heft were very good indeed. But for anything other than casual printing, I would stay away from it. The 7 mil version is better but too thin for double sided picture printing with heavy ink usage - it curls up. My experience is based on batches of these papers bought in December 2008.
