Comments about Iogear Iogear GUH284R, Six Port USB 2.0 Hub & Card Reader, with a Transfer Rate of 480 Mbps:

Got it to replace an older, slower unit and liked that I can have USB and Firewire hubs in one unit using one plug. Mine arrived half dead. The Firewire side worked, but the USB side didn't. I contacted the manufacturer because they are closer to me than Adorama, and talked to someone in India who gave me an RMA. Their directions for returning the unit were poorly written and nearly gibberish. It took three or four weeks to get a replacement unit, but I'm out shipping charges. Of course, they insist on pricey shipping with tracking and insurance to guarantee they don't accidentally "lose" it, or that the broken unit doesn't arrive broken. Of course. The packaging it arrived in actually violates their guidelines for shipping, so go figure. I'm out shipping costs and I got to wait three or four weeks for it to arrive. After it arrived, I plugged it in and it worked. It's nothing special. I can't especially recommend it, though I can't dismiss them all because of this one dead unit. I'd probably suggest to not cheap out and get dedicated USB and Firewire hubs, unless you really have a premium on desk and plug space as I do.
