I shoot horse shows and other equine events where there is a very brief window to get a great shot, or shots. Having a card that reads quickly becomes very important at those moments. I find that I can resume shooting very quickly compared to older cards. An 8g memory capacity allows me to shoot quite a lot before having to change cards without putting all my images on one card (in case of malfunction).

I really cannot say anything negative about this card; it does everything I ask and does so reliably.

We needed a replacement card for our Canon Digital Rebel XT. The previous one was bigger and nominally faster but started to fail after less than a year in use. I can't comment on the durability of the SanDisk card yet but simply based on the fast read/write times and flawless performance in the first few weeks I am confident we made the right choice. And since this card was recommended to me by a friend who is a professional photographer I do not expect any disappointments.

Have had SanDisk memory cards before and never had a problem. I don't like the super huge ones as it's too many images on one card - single point of failure. I opt for the smaller ones to spread out the images on several cards. They travel well and the little plastic storage case they come with is great too.

I've used only SanDisk CF cards in my Canon 20D and 50D cameras since 2005. Never had an issue; always solid performance. The Extreme III has no problem keeping up with shooting in burst mode on the 50D. The 4GB card size is "just right". (When shooting at 15MP, a 2GB card fills up too quickly. And I'm leery of moving up to the 8GB size, in case anything happens to the card.)

I do not reuse compact flashes. I keep my originals like negatives. I have tested other brands (including Kingston and Lexar) and this is the most reliable and flexible for the price. The comparable compact flash by Lexar is more expensive and the Kingston is unreliable (it have failed miserable in the middle of shooting). I shoot indoors and outdoors and have never had problems with these cards

I was using some old Extreme 2's and they did the job, but I wanted something that would write a bit faster and drop them onto my computer faster. Since they were on sale for a steal of a price I snagged 3. Great deal for a solid product.
I would rather have several CF cards to change through a shoot just if out of the blue one gets damaged in some way. Kind of like "Don't put all your eggs in one basket". I have read to many stories of people going through a shoot, and having all their photos on one card then loosing them.
So far so good though. They are CF cards, they work, end of story.

I use the SanDisk Extreme in for capturing images in the RAW format on my DSLR. For HDR imaging, there is less lag time (5 Frame exposure bracket) than when I use my SanDisk Ultra. Uload onto my computer is also quicker, using both the built in card reader and the SanDisk USB card reader.

I picked up a pair of these cards for my wife's wedding and portrait photography (with Canon 30D and 40D). They both write fast enough when she is using burst mode. One of the cards had an error when it was about 2/3 full. Fortunately, it was right at the end of the night and didn't cause her to miss any important shots. We didn't format it or anything before use... just popped it in. We'll try formatting it and see if that helps for the next use.

My other experiences with SanDisk Extreme memory has all been very good, so I'm hoping that this was a one-time hiccup.

I have found the SanDisk Extreme III series to be a great value and perfect for motorsports, weddings and portraits. Since I don't shoot 10fps and my Olympus E-3's do a great job in transferring the RAW data, these fit the bill perfectly. Because of their affordability and compact size, I can carry six and be good all day without having to download and erase. This is especially useful when traveling with a limited kit and no laptop. I still have some of my original SanDisk Extreme cards from back when 256 meg was considered huge and they still work great have never let me down. This is helpful, especially when a paying client is on the line!

As a naturalist I take huge numbers of pictures in Large and Raw and many times bracket each shot with minus and plus exposure. I am trying for the High Dynamic Range type of photos and with my Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Canon 100-400mm lens, I have been able to get some great landscape photos. SanDisk is my Compact Flash Memory card of choice. I never lose files, have a crash, or experience any problems. With the rebate program the price was unbeatable. I now own seven extremeIII cf cards and will only use extremeIII's in my cameras, so that should say it all. get them with the rebate and you can't argue with the price either. these didn't come with the neoprene storage things that my last batches came with though, and the plastic cases aren't quite as convenient either, but that doesn't effect the usefullness of these cards..

I needed a faster write card for my camera. I like to photograph action and do a lot of burst shooting. This card writes much faster than my older card so there is less waiting time while it writes to the card. I plan on buying another card like this one with a larger capicity. The CF cards are great! I got them as a 3-pack for [$] For this price, I'm very happy. I originally had the Sandisk Extreme 3 4GB CF card that read/wrote at slower than 30 MB/s. While I can't say that this one is faster because I run out of camera buffer before hitting the card limit, I have not had any issues with these cards yet.One thing to consider is possible DSLR purchases in the future: I've seen that all entry level and many prosumer DSLRs are moving to SD, which has pros and cons. I wouldn't buy too many CF cards if you would expect more DSLR purchases in the next year.

The Sandisk 4 GB Extreme III CF card is perfect. With my new Canon 50D, the large files move quickly while reading or writing. The 4 GB size is perfect, only having to use a few cards for a wedding, not having to change cards constantly, but giving you the piece of mind, of not putting all your eggs in one basket, that you need while being a professional.

Not the latest and greatest, but for my purposes the speed is fast enough on a D300 shooting at 3FPS. Good Value.

The SanDisk cards have always been excellent and the Extreme III are quite fast. I have used this type of card for years without any issues and look forward to many more years of use. In the past I have used 1 and 2 gig cards to distribute the risk a bit, though with cameras producing larger files it makes sense to utilize the larger cards, thus this purchase (though I still will utilize multiple cards vs one single larger).

I pretty much use only SanDisk in my Canon EOS DSLR cameras (10D and now 50D). I have a RiData card that works fine, but I just have more faith in SanDisk CF cards.

These cards are fast, and the 4GB is important if you shoot in RAW+JPG on a 50D.

Great bang for the buck. I like 4gb cards because I can back them up to DVD. Plus I like not having all of my images on one card. The price point for 4gb is great. The cards are plenty fast for my shooting. Downloading to my computer does not take long at all.

I've never used a SanDisk card before, instead preferring to stick with Lexar Pro CF cards. However, this Christmas, Adorama ran a sale on these SanDisk 4 GB Extreme III Compact Flash Memory Card and it was such an incredible deal, I picked one up to use as a back up card. I have to say, I've been quite pleased with it. Since everyone already knows how to do math, I'll spare you the read/write speed of the card vs. the read/write capability of your personal camera, and let you do your own figuring as to it's performance. What I will vouch for is it's instant recognition in my camera and in my card reader - using both XP and Vista platforms. And I can, unfortunately, also vouch for it's durability, as the day I got it I accidentally sent it flying down a flight of stairs and it lived to tell the tale. I am also using it in the freezing cold of NY's winter and am yet to experience any problems with it.

These were on sale and the manufacturer was offering a rebate of the same amount so I got three of these cards for free. I know they aren't as fast as the Extreme IV or other cards, but for my needs they are great. I don't shoot in RAW, and in jpeg my DLSR will fire continuous 5fps until the card is full, without so much as a hiccup.

The bottom line is that if you are willing to settle for one step below the absolute fastest cards, and patient enough to wait for the deals, CF cards can essentially be had for free. I just did the same thing with another brand 8GB 133X cards, buying two of them for only pennies.

This is definitely an overkill for just storage, but I got this for my Canon 40D and it has yet to slow down my camera in shooting bursts. I've shot a few sequences at full 6.5fps and it's been great. If you need the speed, this card is worth it, otherwise just go get some cheapo card.

Sure this isn't UDMA or anything "superfast" but nobody honestly needs that unless you're downloading hundreds of gigabytes at a time and your time is precious.

This can write faster than my camera's buffer so buying anything faster is a waste of money.

i shoot RAW a lot, which means there is much data to store with each shot. the speed of this chip is great. i still have to wait some depending on number of sequentials, but much better than on other mems.

As a pro photographer, I have been using SanDisk Extreme III CF cards for several years in my 2 digital cameras. I have 7 and all have been heavily used without a single hiccup. I purchased Extreme III because it is more ruggedly built than most other brands. The sale price that Adorama had was very low which encouraged me to add additional cards.

I purchased the San Disk Extreme III CF card because it is faster than the Ultra II. The Ultra II is rated at 10MB/second. The Extreme III is rated at 30MB/second. When I purchased the Extreme III the price could not be beat. I use an Extreme III CF card in a Sony A100K and an Olympus E510. I had no difficulty using the CF Extreme III and Oly while taking pictures during a fashion show.

Prior to purchase of the Extreme III 4GB CF cards I had been using 2GB Extreme III CF cards.

The extra capacity of the 4GB card means I can shoot longer. I will now have to buy a spare battery.

I am a semi pro. I've gotten paid for my work a few times. this is a fantastic card for those with an 8 mega pixel cam. you will get about 420 shot in the RAW format. Scan Disk is the best. I would not buy any other brand.
