Not recommended for high continuous RAW shooting such as weddings or sports. Though it eventually keeps up, it does lag behind and sometimes acts like the camera can't shoot. Also not helpful when you do want to do a quick check. I love the cards, just wish I had bought a higher read/write speed. Otherwise reliable.

I use these as CF storage in my SLR's. Although they don't have state-of-the-art speed, they are perfectly adequate most of the time. They will hold about 250 raw image files. Because this is an older card, it's a relative bargain compared to the newer ones.

Using with a Canon 10D. Wanted to upgrade the CF card from .5 gig. Card works fine, but the speed is no faster than the .5 gig card that it replaced. I assume that it is because of the internal camera memory not able to keep up with the extream III card.

We were in a bird refuge and were able to shoot raw and large jpeg and didn't worry about filling the cards too fast when birds are all over. Wrote fast enough that we did not suffer from lag time of writing to the card. Great small investment for outdoor photography

I frequently downloaded my photos with the 4 GB SanDisk Extreme III. I find with 8 GB I have plenty of storage I shoot RAW+JPG and the 8GB card with the 4 GB now as backup will hold mote photos than I take in weekend trip.

I liked the performance of these cards, so far. I used three of these cards at a snowmobile shoot last weekend. The speed of these cards did capture the action in most of my photos. I captured some of the best images of my life on these cards. No error messages or format issues, yet. These cards did work for action, but I would recommend buying a faster card for action shooting. I would buy more of these cards in the future. I bought these c.f. cards because of the lower price with the rebate. I'm 100% happy with these card, thus far. I will buy more of this brand. I was changing camera systems and SanDisk was offering a great discount for buying these three CF cards. For my style of photography, the 8GB CF Extreme card provided all the speed I need. Only sports phoptographers would need a faster card. No card malfunctions have been experienced by me. At over 300 exposure capacity for each card, I have all the cards I need for my photography.

Great for the price. Not as fast as the latest 600x speed CF cards, but more than adequate if you're shooting using a lot of flash (where you won't be firing off 8 frames/second) say a wedding/event/party. SanDisk is pretty reliable and I would get any of their products.

I use these cards pretty much every time I pick up my Nikon. The large capacity means I never really have to worry about running out of storage, especially if I'm shooting action sports. In terms of reading and write speeds, I can't tell the difference between these and my Extreme IV CF cards. Overall a very good product. I exclusively use Sandisk CF cards and haven't had one fail on me yet, even in the coldest of weather.

Shooting weddings and portraits for a living with a digital camera requires that I have absolutely reliable equipment, especially my image storage and transportation media. I have tried most of the major brands of memory cards and Sandisk has been the most consistently reliable. I'm not putting down other brands, but none of my numerous Sandisk cards have ever failed or caused problems, and that is the brand I plan to buy exclusively for the foreseeable future.

I have purchased San Disk Compact Flash previously with full expectation that they are quality products, and these were no different: the product itself gets 5 stars. My beef is that on buying three there was a substantial rebate offer that I thought enticing. But the rebate came in the form of a debit card, not a check for cash. I deem that unacceptable when there was no indication of that format in the literature announcing the rebate. The problem with the debit card is that any time I cash portions of it, someone gets a lot of information about who I am as a consumer, and it's difficult enough to remain a private individual without that added automatic disclosure. The rebate format gets one star.

These 8 GByte cards are a good size to hold images from my Canon EOS 5D Mark II. I also use 4 GByte cards, but I prefer these 8 GByte cards so I have to switch cards less often.

Write speeds are as fast (and faster) as the Mark II can write the files even in a rapid fire situations such as studio portraiture or HDR captures.

I've been a fan of Sandisk for many years - never had a sandisk flash card fail.

Having a high speed memory card makes such a difference. I am by all means not a professional - but, if you have kids, I can't tell you how much of a difference a higher speed memory card has made in capturing images before the kids have moved on, and the time loading them to my computer has been greatly reduced. Sandisk makes cards of varying speeds. Research to make sure you don't waste money a card speed your camera can't take advantage of -ie
Extreme II is probably perfect for Canon 5D (I got a III in case I upgrade my camera) . The multiple cards have an advantage- if you lose or destroy one, you still have pics. I like 8MG

I know people are hesitant to go with the larger memory cards because if it goes bad or you lose it then you lose a lot of images, but with the increase of mega-pixels it results in larger picture file sizes. I capture around the same number of images on an 8 GB Card with a 15 mega-pixel camera as I can on a 4 GB Card with 10 mega-pixel camera. So if you have a camera with higher mega-pixels then the 8GB is probably a better choice.

I have used many brands/models of CF. Although it is rated at 30MB/s i could only get aroung 19-20MB/s while downloading. Same as Kingston 133x which is a lot cheaper.

From what I've used, Kingston 266x is faster for almost the same price.

Mine is a 50D. ymmv.

Bought a set of three with a rebate for my Canon 50D. I can't seem to fill up the in-camera buffer with high-speed shots. The camera writes the files to the card fast enough. I haven't felt the need for the much more expensive Extreme IV cards yet.

I go to a lot of airshows, the last was my first use of these 8GB cards. I shot 1195 large JPG on Canon 5D & only used half the card. The shots remaining counter stayed pegged at 999 until about 950 pictures had been taken. I switched to a second card & shot the entire Thunderbirds performance in RAW format without running out of space(533 files). Excellent!

Recently while photographing an event and changing CF cards the card I was using flew out of my hands and landed in a glass of water. I pulled the card out of the glass and dried it off, then put it in a warm dry place to dry over night. Too my amazement the card and all its data were fine. How cool is that!!! Yes I would recommend this card.

I use four of these, plus 2 of the 16gb version in my Nikon D300/D700 cameras. SanDisk offers a reliable product that stands up under heavy use. I have tried other brands, but, after a few close calls, sold them all and standardized my digital photographic workflow to include only SanDisk CF cards. I have never had any problems with them. They are fast and tough. I recommend them to my photo workshop and field seminar clients.

I have used several of the 8 GB and a few of the 4 GB Extreme III cards. They have all performed without problems under all conditions. (I do a lot of outside bird, flower and animal work.) The speed is good and the price right now is better. The warranty can't be beat.

Stepping up from 2GB on my D200, these give me lots of room for that afternoon shoot. I still prefer multiple small cards if I am on the road and cannot download often, but one of these 8GB beasties gives me a whole day's worth on one card.

I use it on my Olumpus E520. The speed for storing a picture taken is phenomenal. I have not noticed any degradation in reliability nor performance when I reached about 200 pics at the highest resolution. Good reliable card. Has the ability to store in my case about 650 raw images. That is quite a bit.

Bought two SanDisk 8G III CF card a month ago at [$] each. It worked great for my Canon 20D camera. The storage was big enough to hold all the pictures I took during my 8-day holiday trip, about 800 of them in raw plus large jpg format. I did not run into any reading/writing issues. I do a lot of air show photography where compact flash card capacity and speed are important. Typically, I shoot between 2,000 to 3,000 images in a single weekend. The SanDisk 8 GB Extreme III card gives me the ability to follow the action all day without changing cards.

Often, I capture the action at 3 frames per second with my Canon EOS I D, Mark II N. The 8 GB capacity allows me to record more than 1,100 RAW image files before the card gets full and the 30 MB/s transfer speed allows me to record bursts of up to 30 frames from the camera buffer without a significant delay.

I've never had a problem with the SanDisk cards (as opposed to some other CF manufacturers) and use them almost exclusively to ensure that I capture the shot.

Like offensive lineman in football, storage cards are noticed mostly by failure. The SANDISK lived up to its reputation as being reliable and true to its advertised performance. Carrying pouch and recovery software are nice although the software remains untried.

Very good value if you buy with rebate and can wait a while. Compared with other cards the SanDisk Extreme is very fast with my Canon 40D and for image download to the computer. I have taken lots of pictures with this card and never had any issues. Comes with a pouch and recovery software which I cannot rate as I never needed it.

Great to have the extra capacity, especially when shooting in bursts. And it formats quickly after an upload. Using the SanDisk USB 2.0 card reader it uploads faster than the CPU card slots on the computers I use. Amazing.

As a professional photojournalist, size and speed matter. I don't have time to change cards. With an 8gb card, I rarely have to.

With this card, I have never run into a buffer issue related to the cards write speed (on a 1D Mark II). It is also extremely fast when transferring images onto my computer.

I only trust SanDisk cards. They have never failed on me. For the time being, this is the only card I use. Of course I have two more, just in case!

I bought one of these cards while I was shopping for an 8GB card to replace some old 4GB cards that were getting worn out. I considered the Extreme IV but didn't want to pay the extra price.

I've used lots of Extreme II's but had yet to upgrade to the III. When I put this baby in my camera, I was surprised at the fast write speeds. I've since put my camera in burst mode and shot non-stop without buffer overrun several times.

Maybe this card isn't as fast as the Extreme IV or UDMA cards, but it is a steal at the price if you want really good write speeds without putting out the big bucks!

I had to shop around for a new set of CF cards when I got the new 5D Mark II. My primary concern was finding a card that had a fast enough read/write speed to handle recording long shoots at Full HD 1080p. My second concern was finding a card that could handle taking 4FPS of 21Megapixel+RAW without lag. Well this card met both of those needs without a problem.I think the Extreme IVs are great if you really want the highest speed possible when previewing your images on the computer. But it might be overkill and bad for your budget if you mostly shoot in JPG. The Extreme III CF actually allows you to preview very quickly as is anyway. I've taken 1200 images using the Extreme III so far.[...]

In comparison, camera (Nikon D300) to computer (64-bit system) transfer rate of RAW files (25-30 MB) at 4.2-5.1 MBit/Sec on this card has exceeded that on Lexar 300X which has, in fact, acheived the promised rate of up to 45MB/Sec (practically 3.9-4.6 MBit/Sec)

However, I have not yet tested this card in sport photography at high frame-rate to evaluate the card's in-camera performance.

I recently upgraded to a better camera with a larger file size, and so it was time to upgrade my memory cards as well. Due to San Disk's regular promotions, I was able to get these cards for less than half of what they were advertised for here, and a fourth of what my local stores were charging! I have rarely had issues with San Disk products, and love that if you do, they have recovery software included, that works as advertised! Great Card! I would recommend it to everyone!

I've seen several reviews complaining about SanDisk's rebate program, but I had absolutely no issues whatsoever. The rebate came quickly and without a hiccup.While the Extreme IVs and Ducati Editions may be faster, 30 MB/s has been plenty quick for me (I'm shooting at 8 MP). I'm very satisfied and would definitely recommend this or, really, any of SanDisk's other cards.
