Found it was easy to setup and use. Software that came with it is good and easy to use. A good part of my photo business is doing restoration of old photos and the Epson V700 is doing a great job.

Comments about Epson Epson Perfection V700 Photo Photo Flatbed Scanner, 4800x9600 dpi, 48 bit, built-in 8"x10" Transparency Unit, USB 2.0 & FireWire:

I thought this scanner would be an affordable solution for users who need to scan multiple film formats. Unfortunately, vertical banding was visible on every scan, 35mm and 120. Tried multiple settings, with/without film holders and different scanning software and they were always there. Contacted Epson support and they said it was dust near the sensor and would have to be sent to an authorized dealer for repair. I decided to return for an exchange. Second scanner came, exact same problem! Returned it for full refund. Search for this problem on the web. It's not an isolated incident and in my opinion Epson is selling a faulty product. [...]

Comments about Epson Epson Perfection V700 Photo Photo Flatbed Scanner, 4800x9600 dpi, 48 bit, built-in 8"x10" Transparency Unit, USB 2.0 & FireWire:

I have scanned several thousand photos with my V700, and it is wonderful. For three years I had an Epson Expression 1680. I used it to scan over 15,000 family photos with great results. The V700 is less expensive, the same or better resolution, better color, and MUCH faster scans. Good job Epson!!

Comments about Epson Epson Perfection V700 Photo Photo Flatbed Scanner, 4800x9600 dpi, 48 bit, built-in 8"x10" Transparency Unit, USB 2.0 & FireWire:

Produces very blurry scans at 4800dpi. I have to sharpen 100% radius 1.5, downsample to 50% of pixels, sharpen 50% radius 1.5, downsample again to 50%. Then the pixels start to look sharp.I have scanned 100s of slides. Ive tried every combination I can think of. The real resolution is about 1200dpi.[@]The physics problem is the glass bed. It scatters light making the image blurry. The scanner hardware may be capable of 4800dpi but if the glass interferes its useless. There is a reason no dedicated film scanners are flatbeds.I should have saved my money and got a dedicated film scanner.

This scanner is replacing my Nikon slide unit which now is defunct due to Vista upgrade. This is my first flat bed scanner that was free of internal dust and film scans are great.

Comments about Epson Epson Perfection V700 Photo Photo Flatbed Scanner, 4800x9600 dpi, 48 bit, built-in 8"x10" Transparency Unit, USB 2.0 & FireWire:

Has performed excellently with film sizes from 35mm through 4 x 5, color positive, color and black & white negative. Also superb for scanning prints and documents. I have only two complaints: (1) The film holders are of inferior quality material, and (2) The user cannot replace the bulb—it must be done by an Epson technician.
