Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 3-in-1 Digital Photo / Negative Films / Slides Scanner with built-in 2.4" LCD Screen:

Am in the process of converting many Carousel trays of slides to digital. It's a bit clunky, but does a good job. Expect to experiment a bit, as the user manual is somewhat poor.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 3-in-1 Digital Photo / Negative Films / Slides Scanner with built-in 2.4" LCD Screen:

Purchased this unit to scan about 1000 old slides.
After finally figuring out how to use it due to really poor instructions I can scan the slides. Color rendition is poor but can be improved in Photoshop. The slide holder seems to be flimsy and may break. Overall I would say that its worth the money if you just want a digital record of your slides and are not looking for professional results

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 3-in-1 Digital Photo / Negative Films / Slides Scanner with built-in 2.4" LCD Screen:

It took a little fussing with it to get it to work, the little manual that came with it was confusing. But that said, it allows sharing of old slides through emails, which is all I really wanted.

This product is fine for the casual user interested in storing images digitally. Any use for making reasonably sized prints from those digital files are really not acceptable to the dicerning photographer

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 3-in-1 Digital Photo / Negative Films / Slides Scanner with built-in 2.4" LCD Screen:

The first one I recieved only worked for 5 minutes. I sent it back and am still waiting for the second unit to arrive. I am hoping it will not have the same short lifespan. The 3 in 1 did appear to function as I expected, for the short time before it died. I'm reserving my recommendation and opinion of this product until after the second one arrives and I can give it an actual functional test.

bought this on the suggestion of my nephew and reviews online. So far it does a good job. Sometimes it's a pain to load slides but given the alternative to pay someone to do it. It's not so bad. So far good value for the dollar, especially if you have a lot of slides to copy. Still need to find a good software to clean up the images...Hey they're 50-60 year old slides!

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 3-in-1 Digital Photo / Negative Films / Slides Scanner with built-in 2.4" LCD Screen:

I find that the results with B/white negs are very good if you have well-exposed negatives. Slides are a little tricky dependent on age and condition. A good slide can also be helped a great deal by using Photoshop Elements to adjust color rendition, etc.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 3-in-1 Digital Photo / Negative Films / Slides Scanner with built-in 2.4" LCD Screen:

I was surprised at the speed and resolution. On my Canon flat bed scanner it takes about 5 minutes to scan a 35mm negative. The Flashpoint does it in about 1 second! I did about 50 negatives in one evening. You can even adjust the exposure. I wish they had a model that would do larger film like 120 and 4x5. This is a great value. High quality and fast.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 3-in-1 Digital Photo / Negative Films / Slides Scanner with built-in 2.4" LCD Screen:

I have boxes of old slides and negatives. Mostly family snapshots but still ones I wished to preserve. Did not relish the idea of having to buy an expensive scanner nor the time it might take.

Read numerous reviews and finally took the plunge on this unit. I must say I am amazed. Scanner is fast, easy to use and results look great. Some faded slides need PP but most look great directly from the scanner.

I have not tried the print scanner but it looks easy too.

It is important to keep slides lined up in the tray. The tray is a little tight and difficult to open but that may just be me. Once inserted slides stay put.

Overall, this was a great find. Professionals might need the big Epson, Canon or Nikon scanners. But for most of us amateurs, even advanced amateurs, this unit is perfect.

Good value for scanning everyday picture
By BaldlarsVerified Purchaser from Seattle on 1/12/2011
Pros:

Cons:
Poor for Dark Slides
Best Uses:
Casual Family Photos, Scan Archived Slide

Primary use:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 3-in-1 Digital Photo / Negative Films / Slides Scanner with built-in 2.4" LCD Screen:

A good value for scanning everyday family picture slides and negatives ... but skip the scanning of print pictures. A good flat-bed scanner would work better. The scanning process is very quick.

Although not mentioned anywhere, when the scanner is connected to the USB on a Mac Computer, the scanner will upload to iPhoto.

Unfortunately, scanning dark pictures on slides and negatives do not come out very well. If you plan on printing what you scanned, any printout size beyond 8 x 10 is a waste. For the best quality try to stay around the 4 x 6 print.

Bottom-line, this is a good deal on a reasonable scanner.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 3-in-1 Digital Photo / Negative Films / Slides Scanner with built-in 2.4" LCD Screen:

This is not a great film scanner. It is a good scanner for inexpensively digitizing lots of slides. It's easy to use and very fast. It produces a file that is good for printing up to 8x10. I have not scanned any negatives or prints so I cannot commment on that.

If you have a lot of slides that you want to digitize quickly, easily, and inexpensively, this is a good choice.

Used mostly to process old B/W 35 mm negs; very fast image transfer to storage card, without need to tie up computer; the only complaint I have is the difficulty in opening up the negative or slide holders after usage; I suppose this will improve after multiple uses, or after I grow stronger fingernails.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 3-in-1 Digital Photo / Negative Films / Slides Scanner with built-in 2.4" LCD Screen:

I have about 1500 slides to convert to digital. I have done a few. I was pleased with the definition of the slides, but the color was not acceptable. I was able to take them into another piece of software to get the color corrected. The conversions came out with too much blue which was easy to correct. The time to convert the slide depends on how fast you can put the slides in the holder because the machine only takes a second to scan the slide.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 3-in-1 Digital Photo / Negative Films / Slides Scanner with built-in 2.4" LCD Screen:

The unit is easy to use and fast. An improvement would be the ability to move the object closer or further away from the scanner lense so the object being scanned can be in the optimal position for scanning. Another improvement would be increased resolution. A larger LCD would also be good

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 3-in-1 Digital Photo / Negative Films / Slides Scanner with built-in 2.4" LCD Screen:

Does not work well with all photos. You will get a reflection of the cavity of the scanner in the center of your glossy and semi-gloss pictures. Also all pictures do not fit in the supplied frames. You will use a lot of tape and cropping and good luck getting a picture out of that sealed cavity as it does not not open! I will try to return it but I doubt Adorama will take it back.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 3-in-1 Digital Photo / Negative Films / Slides Scanner with built-in 2.4" LCD Screen:

This is a good basic photo/negative/slide scanner. I have hooked it up to both a Windows XP & Windows 7 systems and it worked on both right away. The color accuracy is only as good as the photo/negative going in, and with that being said I have only had time for really old photos with yellowing problems. While the actual scan is quick the amount of button pressing to get there does slow things down. The small color screen is a real bonus at this price level.

I find this slide scanner does a good job for its price range. I have been working on a fourty year collection of slides and I was nearing the end of the project when my slide scanner from another company started giving me problems. Instead of repairing it I purchased this Flashpoint 3-1 and I am happy I did. For the hobbyist it does an excellent job. I have done a few photographs and they copied good. I haven't used it for negatives.
