Archiving 60- or more -years of slides. May be forced to upgrade because it takes so long to open the film strips. Still waiting for Meyer at Adorama to call me back. Said 5 minutes earlier this afternoon.
Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 35mm Film and Slide Scanner with Software & Cable for USB 2.0 Interface for Windows XP and Vista:
Not top of the line but definitely good for the money. Some adjusting before up and running.
Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 35mm Film and Slide Scanner with Software & Cable for USB 2.0 Interface for Windows XP and Vista:
If slide is exposed perfectly it will do a passable job. A used flatbed scanner with slide or film scanning built in is cheaper and is so much better that you soon realize this thing is a complete waste of money.
Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 35mm Film and Slide Scanner with Software & Cable for USB 2.0 Interface for Windows XP and Vista:
I am somewhat disappointed with this product. It appears as though the ArcSoft software does not like my computers, or maybe my computers don't like it. My brother purchased another brand from a local wholesale warehouse, for about two thirds of the price I paid for this one, and he had a much easier time with his. The software his came with was Photoshop Elements 5. I feel the software for this is complete garbage, and will try to see if I can intergrate the scanner with Photoshop Elements 4. I will try to contact ArcSoft in reference to their software. Otherwise, I will just go and get the one from that same wholesale warehouse.

The scanner is used to scan old photographs or slides that are filed away but are of real good quality.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 35mm Film and Slide Scanner with Software & Cable for USB 2.0 Interface for Windows XP and Vista:
We hoped this would preserve our parents' old slides, but the hardware overexposes over 70% of them. The information isn't even getting scanned, so it can be photo-shopped. Very disappointing.
Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 35mm Film and Slide Scanner with Software & Cable for USB 2.0 Interface for Windows XP and Vista:
Slides are poorly positioned inside the holder. After scanning, there is a large off-center mask surrounding the image and it is extremely difficult to position a slide accurately so the desired image is complete. It has a definite tendency to overexpose the image and is resistant to correction in Photoshop.

I should be using again my flatbed scanner with slides adapter or my slide duplicator applied to my DSLR.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 35mm Film and Slide Scanner with Software & Cable for USB 2.0 Interface for Windows XP and Vista:
I call this scanner my Energizer bunny because it just keeps going and going with no jams. I have scanned over 5,000 35mm slides using the Braun Paximat magazines that hold 100 slides and it has never failed me. The Digital ICE is great and the old slides look better than new. It is a batch 35mm slide scanner of the highest order. I use VueScan with it and the slides only need to go into Photoshop Elements for color correction after being scanned. If only my $4,000 batch photo scanner worked so well!

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 35mm Film and Slide Scanner with Software & Cable for USB 2.0 Interface for Windows XP and Vista:
It's a tad slow since you manually move from 1 negative to the next but, It does provide a good quality scan of my negatives

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 35mm Film and Slide Scanner with Software & Cable for USB 2.0 Interface for Windows XP and Vista:
Installed the scanner software and everything that came with this scanner. It worked like it was suppossed to during the first use. Skip ahead a few weeks, tried to use it a second time and there is a software glitch. It will not let me open the window to view and scan the negative. Attempted to get ahold of tech support at ArcSoft (publisher of software), awaiting reply. If the ArcSoft cannot fix the problem, I just ate [$].

I set this up relativly quickly. Unfortunatly the quallity of scans on this were poor. Whites were blown out and colors were not accurate at all.

this unit is not too complicated to use, and it works fairly well on an XP machine but locked up my Vista machine hopelessly. How about telling the Flashpoint people to redo their software so it works as they claim is does! [...]

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 35mm Film and Slide Scanner with Software & Cable for USB 2.0 Interface for Windows XP and Vista:
I ordered the Flashpoint and they sent me the vuPoint, which looks similiar, but there is no control over the exporure, which is stated as automatic.
You can't correct over and under exposed film and slides like i can with my simple digital camera and slide duplicator. If would have been nice if you could adjust the exposure before adding the slide or negative to the supplied software.
This will work (even with the editing software) only if you are converting PERFECT slides or negatives.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 35mm Film and Slide Scanner with Software & Cable for USB 2.0 Interface for Windows XP and Vista:
This is a great little slide & film scanner.
I had a large selection of 35mm Kodak slides catching dust.I am now coverting them to digital.
I have 2 minor gripes.1 with the hardware & 1 with the software.
1/ The slide tray is difficult to open- It could be improved with a better gripping tab.
2/ when a slide is scanned you should be able to do any editing before transferring it to your computer file.
Other than these 2 gripes I have found it easy to edit/enhance/crop images (after saving them).
I found that the software can also be used to edit your other digital photos.

Itriyed to answer to BDAllen from Waunakee, WI on 11/14/2008
I wrote a few days when I installed the software at Vista computer and its works fine; but 2 weeks later I tryed to instal in an XP Computer and didnt work and the message was "cant find the camera or somthing like that" I belive that the problem was the Twain Driver, because I installed Drivers for CanoScan Lide 25 (Cannon FlatBed Scan) and PhotoStudio of ArcSoft 5.5 And the problem gone and all works fine.

The FLASHPOINT 35mm Scanner is a treasury of technology, because it´s allow to recover the past, where photos does not exist anymore. It is priceless !!! Now ADORAMA could evaluate the possibility to use the same scan platform in order to produce a SUPER-8 Film milimeters Scanner, that will be perfect to recover our old domestic movies.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 35mm Film and Slide Scanner with Software & Cable for USB 2.0 Interface for Windows XP and Vista:
We have enjoyed this slide converter so much. It was easy to use and converted our slides right to our computer. If we need to make prints we can also do that. It has been over 30 yrs. since we saw those slides.
I'm also looking forward to converting some of our negatives to pictures.
This product is wonderful!

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 35mm Film and Slide Scanner with Software & Cable for USB 2.0 Interface for Windows XP and Vista:
Slides are entered into the unit three at a time. Up to 12 slides are then saved to your pc. Slow process. Quality was ok, directions were ok but a bit lacking in detail. Good tool for converting old 35mm slides to your pc. I would recommend it for an inexpensive way to capture those old pictures.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 35mm Film and Slide Scanner with Software & Cable for USB 2.0 Interface for Windows XP and Vista:
Unit works OK on XP, altho it says's it will work on Vista, not so. it does not have the right driver for 64 bit vista and they are not available. Customer service will not even answer your questions on how to use it on Vista or supply the driver information and will not call back when you request to talk to a tech rep.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 35mm Film and Slide Scanner with Software & Cable for USB 2.0 Interface for Windows XP and Vista:
I had great hopes for this scanner. But it just didn't work. I couldn't get it to work on our laptop. After reinstalling it three times, it just would not acquire any images even following the instructions to the letter.
I installed it on another PC, and I could get it to acquire one image. But the scans were consistantly overexposed (totally washing out facial features even after allowing the auto recognition software to work over 15 minutes before continuing). It should have acquired up to 12 images in one session, but it required a full computer restart each time before it would acquire a second image.
After a couple of days of trying, we returned it.
I wish this had worked out, but it definitely did not. I noticed that Adorama has now pulled it from the web site as an active item, and I'm not surprised. Hopefully they will get a much better slide and film scanner at this price point in the near future.

I have about 10000 underwater slides to somehow get in digital form. This scanner is OK if you have a handful of slides but no good for any volume.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 35mm Film and Slide Scanner with Software & Cable for USB 2.0 Interface for Windows XP and Vista:
I rec'd this unit in early November 2008. I hopes and excitement of using the unit have been shattered by the message CAN NOT FIND CAMERA, PLEASE CONNECT OMNIVISION SUPERCAM. After many attempts of uninstalling and reinstalling the software on Windows Vista, the message continues to show up. Are there any other users having this problem, or am I doing something wrong? Advice greatly appreciated......

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 35mm Film and Slide Scanner with Software & Cable for USB 2.0 Interface for Windows XP and Vista:
Ok I was looking for a low Cost Film and slide scanner as Money as we all Know s tight these days a friend told me about the Flashpoint slide scanner so I thought I would give it a try. First off this has to be the most simple to use device I have used in awhile. Load the software, then plug in the USB cord wait for it to find the scanner and your up in running I think I had scanned my first picture in like 10 minutes. the only thing I would tell people is the software that comes with the scanner is a little lacking. and could be better I used the free version of GIMP you can download it online its a photoshop online clone photo editing software program. that makes this little scanner shine. I have included a photo in my review of a negative my dad shot in about 1954 of one of his classic cars. So yes it was well worth the money.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 35mm Film and Slide Scanner with Software & Cable for USB 2.0 Interface for Windows XP and Vista:
Since receiving my Flashpoint Image Copier, I have scanned about 1000 negatives. Approximately 30% of those were rescans (from an older scanner)in hope of obtaining a better copy. In most cases, I was sorly disappointed. I found the twian software accompanying the scanner (Photo Impression 6 to be extremely lacking. In almost every case photo slides containing white or other "bright" spots, ie., sky, white shirt/blouse, water, etc, reproduced extremely bright which could not be corrected with other photo editing software, therefore rendering the scanned copy almost usless. The software provided with this scanner was not capable of compensating for this effect as was my previous Epson product. I believe that a change of scanner software or improvement in the software provided would greatly improve the quality of the finished product. Except as described above I found the scanner itself easy to set up and use and reproduced great looking photos of slides not containing any white areas.

I HAVE TRIED TWO OF THESE TYPES OF SCANNERS - THEY DO NOT COME CLOSE TO MY OLDER NIKON SLIDE SCANNER - THEY HAVE MAJOR PROBLEMS IN REPRODUCING SKIN TONES AND FINE DETAIL FROM KODACHROME SLIDES. THEY ARE FAST, BUT YOU WILL BE BETTER OFF BUYING A "BIG" SLIDE SCANNER - THE OLDER MODELS USE A SCSI INTERFACE - A MAJOR PAIN - THE NEWER MODELS USE A USB INTERFACE AND CONNECT EASY AND QUICK.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 35mm Film and Slide Scanner with Software & Cable for USB 2.0 Interface for Windows XP and Vista:
This product was delivered yesterday and we spent much of the evening scanning old negatives. I was pleasantly surprised with the ease of installation and setup of the scanner. The instructions are clear and simple. And you are quickly ready to get to it. I recommend anyone interested in conserving images from old snapshots consider this economical product. I would like to see additional film holders for this unit become available. In any case, this is a good buy.
