Comments about IRIS I.R.I.S. IRISnotes Pen and Mobile Note Taker with USB 2.0 Interface, for Windows:

I got exactly what I expected from this product.First of all, the handwriting recognition is ASTOUNDING. I don't know why others say that the handwriting recognition software is a downturn but with me it was surprisingly accurate, given that I don't have a very legible handwriting. Next, the pen and receiver are very small you can take it anywhere. I would recommend placing the receiver unit at the BOTTOM of your page since I noticed that sometimes when I write with the receiver on top, my hand blocks the line of sight between the pen tip and the receiver so my notes are not completely recorded. Anyway, when you put the receiver unit at the bottom, you will end up with notes that are also in reverse orientation, all you need to do is rotate it to the right orientation using the note editor (although this may take some time, which bothers me sometimes).Another downturn is it is not advisable to put the receiver unit at the corner of the page because you may end up with a diagonal line of text (which will create problems in handwriting recognition) if you do not correctly place the receiver unit.Lastly, I am very sad about the metal casing supplied with IRISnotes. To my surprise, the receiver unit does not properly fit the metal casing. Apparently, the receiver unit does not fully fit the metal casing so you cannot close it evenly.[...] I would also like to tell that this version of IRISnotes being sold here at Adorama is the STANDARD VERSION and NOT the executive one. Adorama's description can create confusion because it says here that you can also recognize Arabic text, create trainer modules, and convert graphs and shapes in the notes recognition software but these are additional features included in the executive version. The notes recognition software included with the version of IRISnotes being sold here is MyScript Notes Recognition Lite, and you need an upgrade (about €35) to get MyScript Studio Notes Edition to have the additonal features stated (or just buy the executive version which IRIS' website says still unavailable in US and Canada).
