Didn't work out of the box. Scans were blurry, out of focus. The manufacturer said it was a fixed focus system and had to be sent back. The outside of the box said it was autofocus.

Comments about Pacific Image Pacific Image PrimeFilm 3650-U, 35mm Film Scanner with 3600dpi, USB Interface.:

I needed a compact 35mm film scanner since I found my HP Flatbed a hassle to load negatives and slides. The 3650u appealed to me for it's small size, decent resolution and advertised speed. Well, for the resolution quality I was interested in, the speed is not there ... BUT the amazing ICE software all but eliminated the need for dusting my negs and slides before scanning, and thus, left me with virtually no UFO's to touch up with Photoshop.

Only 2 criticisms: I occasionally get some scanner-generated image artifacts, but a rescan takes care of that (I now ALWAYS pre-scan and carefully inspect before my final scan.) The other issue is that the product was advertise to include PS Elements 6, but came with Elements 5, which was only a slight improvement over Elements 4, which I already own. It would have been nice to get what was advertised.

In sum: great scans and the ICE software is fantastic! I would highly recommend this product.

Comments about Pacific Image Pacific Image PrimeFilm 3650-U, 35mm Film Scanner with 3600dpi, USB Interface.:

I have found I can use the scanner to digitize my old 16mm film. This requires some extra work, but I have not found another scanner that will work. I have full fledged bulk 35mm scanners and flat beds, but this is the only one which will allow me to handle my old film I do need to develop a tool to hold in place, but this is great as I was about to abandon the film

Have run hundreds of slides with zero jams. Start it and forget it.
Colors not great, but can be fixed in Adobe. Quality not near Nikon 5000 (which I also own) but ~ zero jamming counts for a lot!
You want professional results ~ skip this and get a Nikon.
You want to push a zillion slides with zero effort, take this. Get the 100 slide holder also!

No color calibration for Fujichrome provia film? None of the otehr calubration scheme presets come close to accurate colors. I shouldn't have ot use photoshop to reproduce the colors on the slide.
