I put one of these hoods on my 5D when I first noticed the problem of seeing the LCD screen in bright light. I used it for about a year then took it off. It was just as difficult to see the screen with the hood opened as it was without the hood at all. It protects the screen and otherwise works as advertised, but really does not solve the basic problem.
