I always pack extra batteries. Two of my Nikon EN-EL5 batteries swelled so that they'd no longer fit into the camera. Nikon wouldn't stand behind them: said yeah, that happens if they're overcharged. I pointed out I hadn't conceded I'd ever overcharged them (I might well have) but it didn't matter: the company didn't stand behind batteries that swelled.
My batteries always worked adequately--charged in a reasonable amount of time and held their charge reasonably--but i think buyers/users should be warned to watch the camera manual's rules for charging times very, very carefully. Leave these suckers in the charger while you're away for a weekend, and you may doom them, at your expense.

I cover sports and go through batteries rather quickly. I found that the Nikon battery is far superior to the knock offs on the market.
It really takes a lot of juice to shoot video clips.

This was the battery supplied with my nikon coolpix P-6000. It did not hold the charge. I thought that it was the camera. Nikon reps told me to remove the battery when the camera was not in use but this did not help. I tried the Adorama version of the battery and had no problems shooting about 200 pics with it. Now I have a spare Adorama battery and both work wonderfully. So it was not the camera but Nikon's lousy battery.

I used the battery in a Nikon Coolpix P90. The charge didn't last very long, but I would think it is the Camera. I used it for travel and missed a lot of good shots due to the battery charging. Enough said, the camera is going to be auctioned.
